The Official CraigsList Thread...

this aint on craigslist, but i didnt know where else to put it, and i thought it may be worth mentioning. chula vista ecology has a grand wagoneer with d44 axles in it still. didnt catch the year, but the front had disks. they want 370 for the front. if i didnt have to buy a new motor to the replace the one with an external connecting rod in my saturn, i probably would have grabbed it.

that place is so stupid with axle prices. when i got my rear 44, they asked if it was from a 2wd or 4wd. i said 4wd. she said it was going to be about $380. i asked if 2wd was cheaper, turns out a 2wd rear axle is half that. so i walked away and browsed around for 20 minutes and went back and bought the same axle for half the price. such a scam these places pull sometimes

wonder what it runs in the quarter. high 14's? lol

Are you thinking it's not fast because it has a 6 cylindar motor?
Better think again! Every part added and mod done to that thing has increased it's speed and added horsepower.

Thanks for posting Grimm! Coming from a racing background I enjoyed seeing this and can appreciate how much money and time he has into it.

i'm not really knocking it, i was just kidding around... but realistically, what do you think it's actually going to run? maybe 12's?
cant imagine it has much more than 300hp without NOS.

I doesn't the Filarski Bros XJ put out around 300hp without a stroker? then you figure in that a stripped out 2 door can probably get down to about 2300 pounds or so, and it should be pretty quick. Stock XJs can come in as low as 2800 pounds.

Vanimal,

I think you're in the ballpark at low to mid 12's only because it's normally aspirated on a smallish carb with vacuum secondaries. He says it's setup for NOS in his ad so squeezing that bottle on a stage II system is going to get him down to the finish a WHOLE LOT FASTER!

Looks like he's running cheater slicks and has white striped them so probably using VHT to hook off the line. The tranny & 3rd member are rock solid so transferring that power will be no problem. There are things that need to be done to make it a little more sano like a break-away steering column, cage mods, fuel cell, and rear mounted shut-off switch etc. but it's almost there.

There are 6 cylindar engines out there that with a supercharger push 700+ hp and will run the qtr in mid to high 9's at 140mph! But you're talking big bucks!

I need to do this to my 4.3l Vortec!

i saw it was set up for NOS, but i dont really count that, it's cheating lol
i dont hate on 6 cyls, i'm a huge fan of the grand national/t-type. i know they're no joke. but i also know there are limitations with n/a.

NOS is like a lincoln locker to me. sure it works, but dont expect much respect lol
