THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You have to time it right. I used to drive from Manchester to Watertown for a job and coming off rt3 to 495 was a almost a parking lot. Not terrible if you're used to boston I bet, but I dreaded it.

Define almost a parking lot.

To me a parking lot was 128/95 in the morning. I would literally come to a complete stop for 10 seconds, then go 15 mph for about 50 ft, then stop again.

EDIT: And that was for about 5-7 miles. I couldn't handle that anymore after 5 years so I started going 495. Never any traffic (maybe a few slow downs) but nowhere near what I was used to.

I don't mind the longer commute as long as I'm not sitting in traffic the whole time. One hiccup doesn't bother me.

That sounds about right for the bad days. 3/4 of the 5 days would be a constant creep. Just enough to whine out first in the Honda or feather the clutch in second.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

See below. I also would be coming DOWN route 3 in the morning, and back up during the afternoon/evening (obviously). So opposite your commute, and also going nowhere near 95. I'd be going 3S, 495S, 20E.
Haha dude, I know exactly where you're talking about, its exactly where I'm talking about.

I was saying I was heading up Rte 3 North, but That side that you were talking about, aka Rte 3 SOUTH, is a parking lot. It has been a parking lot almost the entire way up to 89 from where I get on at 95, but it is heaviest at 95. 495 hits Rte 3 between 89 and 95, therefore the stretch you're talking about is the same stretch I drive past.

So, what I have been trying to say:
When I have been driving up 3N in the morning around 6:30am, I look to the other side of the road and 3S has been a parking lot.
When I have been driving down 3S in the evening, ranging between 4pm-7pm, I look to the other side of the road and 3N has been heavy traffic.

And when I say parking lot, I mean I can't see their wheels turning, they are dead stopped.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's just weird that everyone seems to have different things to say about it. No one is consistent.

Either way if it's just one spot, that doesn't bother me. My commute is not going to be wonderful no matter where I go unless it's the next town over from Marlborough and eff those house prices.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sweet the dude accepted my 600$ offer for those wheels and tires! looks like Im making a 4hr trip to Baltimore some time this week.

Who they from? That's my hood.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It really depends. Hell, with my commute, if I leave on time, I do 80, 85, 90 all the way to work with like a 2 mile 0/40mph/0/40mph stop and go stretch at the 95/90 junction. If I leave 10 or 20 minutes late, I'm either taking 495 north and 93 south to do 20 extra miles and get there mostly on time, or I'm sitting in 15 miles of parking lot on 90 between 495/95.

And then once in a while someone throws a wrench in the works by being a retard and stacking shit up all over the highway and I get to sit in traffic and hope they died for their stupidity.

I feel you man, that's why I just built a car that flies and now I fly to Boston every morning.

Funny you mention that, I'm working on one of those too, but I'm not done building it and it'll cost $280k when complete, so I don't think I'll end up with one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Helped my father start the u-joints on his truck on Sunday.

I hate getting hub bearings to separate from a knuckle for the first time. It always blows.

I almost had him sold on a Spyntec kit for it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Does the bolt/socket trick work on his truck? I forget what he has, but if it's got ujoints it probably does...

I've been talking to Scott thisj morning (and we spoke with Scott/Jen during Fall Crawl and Rocktoberfest about everything). He says he makes it to 495 on Route 3 in 10 minutes every morning. And leaves at 7. Which confirms what I've been watching on the live traffic on Google Maps. So I'm not sure what everyone is talking about?

Yeah, I'm not saying its bad...I'm saying I often hear jen complain about how awful her ride home was. So....take it with a few grains of salt ;) I think its like anything else, you just need to take the ride on those days at those times for yourself and see how you feel about it. Its all relative. I hate traffic and couldn't deal with it every day. But the handful of times I've gone 3s from Scotts to work, exit 2 in Nashua to exit 37(?) For like rt40, I've not had any problem.
