Same engine in our old tow truck, it doesn't love starting in the cold when it's not plugged in. But it starts.

I left mine unplugged one night last year on one of the very cold nights. It was not that happy when starting but did start with some skinny pedal. Smokes and rattles like a bitch though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah but you went to some sketched out gas station that time didn't you Bill?
Yup.

Last winter was my first and didn't do anything and it didn't have any problems. Though I did do a lit of research on the matter everyone said for lly not to and I only plugged it in when it dropped below 10 outside power the manual
I've never plugged mine in. Starts right up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Like what time? Or when in the season? I usually plug mine in if its supposed to be <20° outside for the night. As far as time of day, it only needs to be plugged in for an hour or two before you'll be starting it. More than that is wasting electricity. You can use a timer like people use on outdoor lights or whatever so you don't have to wake your ass up at 430am to plug the truck in.

Re: Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yo dizzle guys(Colin, Travis, Bill, Sheep) what treatment do you guys run it the winter for the fuel if any?

I have a first gen 12v. I always add a qt of atf to help keep the pump lubed. As far as plugging mine in...hardly ever unless its less than 20 degrees. It always fires right up

Guess I need to put the limited slip in the back of the XJ in the next few days... already has studded snow tires on it. Both fronts were badly dry rotted, one front was square, one rear was mismatched and bald, the other rear had a nail in it, so I jumped on a set of snow tires when I saw them for cheap. It was actively attempting to kill me whenever I had to drive on wet roads.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why do people expect me to deliver shitty parts I'm practically giving away? I'll just Throw them in a dumpster before losing time and money on you.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That motor is probably worth a grand parted out on Ebay. I doubt that trailer would make it too far though

pay the guy for the trailer and I'll drag it home with me and stuff it in the yard to rot till you want to pick it up
