THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

5.9 should be on the road by the weekend. I have plates and insurance for it, just need the front shocks in, drill trackbar bushing/bolt hole out to 7/16" in the front, check the caster and alignment, and figure out a rear driveshaft. I AM EXCITE!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

going back to a 44A? and will you be at pat's on saturday?

It's got the 8.8 that Pat built for his 5 speed a while back, but it's got 3.55's in it and it's open. Going back to the 3.73/LSD 8.8 that was in it when I bought it, just needs new brackets. Not sure if I'll be there on Saturday, you coming in to the city at all?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Flew a Northrop Grumman AA-5A our test pilot and one of our board members own yesterday. $20 for a half hour including instruction? Hell yes I will. Did a few 2G turns, flew over most of northeastern mass and brought it back to about 30 seconds before landing.

I might as well just pick up a hard drug habit and a few boats to round out the expensive hobby list. And maybe get divorced. That was way too much fun.

(Just when you thought that me driving on public roads was bad enough, someone puts me in an airplane...)

Ken, if you see a Deep Slate bumper cover on Saturday, can you grab it for me? It's a 98 only color, paint code is PAW.

EDIT: Front cover, and if the hatch is decent, I may be interested in that as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

For an XJ or ZJ? I'm assuming ZJ, since XJ bumper covers are left/right.

I'll keep my eye out.

I'm impressed, and terrified.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I dunno how impressed you should be... it's really pretty easy. The hardest thing to get used to was the fact that you don't keep the stick turned to keep turning, you turn it to start turning or stop turning. Once you're turning, the stick goes back to straight forward till you want to stop turning, unless you just want to do barrel roll, in which case, the stick stays to one side until you barf.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would never be able to take on flying as a hobby.

After just taking what was essentially the basic pilots grounds school, it would be way too expensive. Staying on top of IFR certifications, mapping out flight plans, and calculating runway lengths/fuel consumption I'm all set. And that's not even a 1/4 of it.

Not something you can just dabble in easily once or twice a year.

yeah for sure. IFR isn't really required for most people from what I thought though, just VFR? Unless I wanted to fly at night, or under certain circumstances, or in certain airspaces.

Looks like getting PPL costs 5-6k on average, which is a lot, but damn was that fun... once I get myself back on the level and house finished I'm not sure what I'll really do. I do of course have a pile of jeeps to finish (err, start)... maybe I should just stick wings on one of them.
