THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if there's anything I learned from selling an NV4500 on craigslist it's that you don't want an auto cummins truck.

Soooooooo many sad, sad cummins+47re owners called me up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

while on the subject of diesels... anything wrong with the turbo 6.5 that came in chevys?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The chevy one or the Detroit one?

I've heard one or the other has issues with block cracking and the IP getting roasted by the fact that it's right next to the turbo in the valley between the heads.

That being said, I know ****all about chevies, so there's a strong chance I'm completely wrong here...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

In the diesel debate, the towslut has 350K on a 24 valve not bad rust and it hauls ass!
Cummins or Duramax!

in the world of pre-duramax chevy's id rather have a gasser or swap in a 12v. the early gm stuff is just outdated, slow, and not much of a market for upgrades and stuff.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

now THAT's a partymobile tow rig.

In case of injury, can they be driven by a man in a wheelchair with one arm in a sling?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

NO!! do not go to that guy, he is lying sack of shit. ive seen a few people that got screwed over by him with one of his "clean" trucks. not to mention he has the highest priced CTD's in the country. theres a recent thread on cumminsforum about a guy that paid $20k for a 24v that has tons of problems.

are you set on a 24v like colins or would you mind a 12v like mine? theres a coulpe decent 12ers around here ive been seeing. are yoy dead set on a manual too?

Really? That sucks, I was hoping to head out there and check some out. I figured it was worth the ride for how many he had that looked so nice online. How many people have had bad experiences like that?

I don't have a preference between 12v or 24v, from what you were saying the 12v's are easier to work on. It really depends on what comes up at the right time.

As far as transmission choices, if it's a Dodge I would only want a stick, but I would compromise for an auto in the right Ford. My 'dream' truck would be a 95-97/99-03 F250/350, 7.3, ZF5/6, but there aren't too many around here. If it comes down to it, I'll fly down south if I come across the right truck, but I'd rather not. I have a friend who's from Missouri, and needs his old 70 F150 towed back up here, so if I find one around there he'll come with me and split the driving/fuel.

Who knows. I need to sell the XJ and get some other shit squared away before I should buy anything.

I only ask about a manual because theres a similar 12v to mine with a built up auto for sale the town next to me. ive seen the truck around before and it seems pretty decent and such. or just hold out and try to get lucky like me and find a smoking deal ob an ideal truck.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So, I don't think I had posted it publicly, but I'm going to Hawaii for work for 2 weeks soon. I was asked to go because the guy who usually goes for this project has had health problems lately. He thought he had food poisoning but it didn't really go away. He went in and got it checked out late last week. He found out he had bad liver cancer and all of the sudden he has weeks to live. He's only in his late 50's. :( I'm no doctor, but from what I hear, he'll be lucky to be alive by the time I get back.

my old boss had liver cancer and was told he only had weeks to live. he fought hard and made it almost 4 years. and about almost 3 of those 4 years his quality of life was pretty good. he was a hell of a guy. it spread to his brain he worked untill the day before surgery, had his head cut open on a Friday and was back at work on Monday. and were in construction.

long of the short of it is dont count your coworker out yet out yet. hope he gets better.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I mean the seller doesn't sound like hes anything special here. but there are 2 sides to every story, and dropping 22 grand on something you didn't even look at is retarded.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

x2 wtf?

Also, what's hard to work on on a 24v?

Agreed. I would never buy a truck without looking at it, especially for $22k. I may still take a ride out there if there's something decent when I'm ready.

Colin, what do you think of your 24v? You've only done wheel bearings and other small shit right? In how many miles?
