Im also very bored since the canceled our flight today. we're catching a 5pm flight to denver tonight, then we have to wait until 10am tomorrow to get a flight back to boston. good thing my mom has the hotel hookups, we found a hampton inn right near the airport with shuttle service.

I'm assuming you've been logging onto naxja with a telegraph, but the rest of us have been using what's called a computer. I'm specifically using a laptop, a small, more mobile computer. I am having issues with the software on this device and am looking for advice as to the remedy. There are computer enthusiasts who frequent this very thread that I am directing these questions towards.

SO SUCK MY DICK ALRIGHT!?!?!?

Nice. The downgrade sounds feasible. But what are you running that you're having that many issues?

Windows 8 requires a different thought process to operate, from my experience. It would be like going to a Droid from an iPhone or vice versa. Win8 isn't the Windows we know and hate.

I think when it becomes a little more mainstream, people are going to reject it at first but then just sort of get used to it because it will be forced on them at work. I can't say whether I think it's better or worse. I just know it's very different.

#1 reason is Windows 8 is just stupid. I hate seeing the metro screen everytime I boot up. I tried the start button add on to get it to skip but it doesn't work well. I also hate all the stupid swipe gestures. The touchpad is on the left side of the laptop so I'm always on the right side of it. So I'm constantly getting this stupid side toolbar popping up all the time. Then, there are certain things you can only access through metro UI, annoying. It wants to open stupid shit like PDFs, pictures, movies, and stuff like that in the metro UI by default which is annoying on a non-touch screen laptop. It's just 100% stupid.

That and I plugged in a mouse that worked fine with my windows 7 laptop and it doesn't work. I need a mouse for solidworks which means I had to sit in class and draw shit on notebook paper instead, I draw like a blind retarded 1 year old polar bear with penises for fingers. I nearly threw my laptop out the window.

From what I hear there can be a problem with the new BIOS. There is now something along the lines of a "secure boot" which is different from how bios booted up an operating system in the past. I haven't checked but I've read most laptops right now still have a "legacy boot" type of option that would allow me to go back to windows 7. I really don't feel like waiting until windows 9.

So, I don't think I had posted it publicly, but I'm going to Hawaii for work for 2 weeks soon. I was asked to go because the guy who usually goes for this project has had health problems lately. He thought he had food poisoning but it didn't really go away. He went in and got it checked out late last week. He found out he had bad liver cancer and all of the sudden he has weeks to live. He's only in his late 50's. :( I'm no doctor, but from what I hear, he'll be lucky to be alive by the time I get back.

My mom's has a little app thing that you can open and it makes it act like traditional Win with a desktop and all that stuff. I'm not sure if it works like WinE in Linux (or Mac, for that matter) but I would imagine that if it's capable of that, it's also capable of having it as its primary OS.

Waiting till 9? I doubt you'll have more control. It seems to be progressing to less and less user control/customization and more I/O. Like a Mac, right? Sure you can install stuff but how much freedom do you actually have over those machines?

You mentioned the Hawaii trip, but didn't mention why.

Damn...that blows. Talk about the whole "life is short" quote.

:(
Yeah. I don't know him outside of work, but here he's a real nice guy. Sucks.

I'm pretty sure everyone will just hate it for different reasons. This whole "everything is a touchscreen better make big pretty pictures and no text and assume the user is on a 3 inch wide touchscreen with tourettes and parkinsons" fad that every company is on right now will blow over... I hope. Who was first? I think it was Unity on linux, and every other company saw their terrible idea and said well boy howdy we can't let them innovate such a shitty thing, we gotta force it on our users too to even the playing field out a bit!

(I'm going to just keep typing over here like a nerd)

goddamn, that's a hell of a thing to find out with no warning :(

I've had my 02' F350 w the 7.3 for the last 3 years and I love the truck. The only problem I've had other then wear items is the rust/rot in typical spots(cab corners and wheel well). I'm actually thinking of putting it up for sale in the next week to snag an Excursion w a 7.3.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

One of my best customers hasnt been coming in for a while and I havent even seen him around town. Well he came in one day about 30lbs lighter than hes ever been. He has a tumor on his pancreas. Pretty much means hes all done in a couple months. Shit can happen fast.

Even my high school shop teacher just retired in June, diagnosed with cellulitis, and liver failure in December. Hes all hopped up on meds but says hes confident he will pull through, his wife told me less than a month ( a few weeks ago).

Shit can hit the fan pretty fast.

Hello Mr. P

What is it about XJs that makes me drive like a Masshole? I haven't owned one since I sold my last one this past summer and every time I hop in one now I drive like I'm race ready. Not sure if it's because it's car like or what. The smallest vehicle I have now is an Expedition. I literally made it home 5 mins faster today and wanted to kick my own ass when I got home. Damn things.

I need another one.

A car with a stick shift has the same effect. That's why I'm semi-glad my car has an automatic. I drive 30mph faster on average with a stick.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

everytime I hop in an xj I feel invincible. I havent driven too many cars to thier limits, but XJ's just seem to fit me so well.

I want another one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like how if you take a sharp corner in them at slow speeds they still roll over. I always hated that about other cars.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hear the red ones roll the best.

XJs/MJs make me want to drive like a maniac, my red XJ has done 116 (ECU cockblocked me), white XJ did 120 at one point, white MJ has done 120, blue MJ has only done like 65...
