THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

5.38 > 3.38 :lecture:

Of course that's oversimplifying it, but I think you'll be fine.

I have no idea what that dude in ModTech is trying to get at with the idea of building a 4-link off his exo cage. :conceited

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris all you logic about a 23 spline output is moot 'cause you are planning on running a D35 on 35s on a race rig. I don't care what you say, it's still a D35.
All the math in the world wouldn't make me want to run either.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hope you're not claustrophobic, 'cuz it's gotta get stuffy as hell inside that lil box you're stuck in. :D

Things that have been proven to race competitively and last through the Baja 1000 carry a bit more credibility in my mind than a bunch of preconceived notions on the internet based solely on hearsay.

The way I look at it, I'll be quite a bit better off than anyone who's ever ran 35's on a Dana 30. Which is probably the vast majority of this club.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

All this blabber about 3 vs. 6-gear planetaries in the NP231, wide chain upgrades, etc.

Has anyone actually had a failure from only having 3 planetary gears? Or broken the stock NP231 chain? I know I've had stretched chains, but that's been on cases with 100k+ miles on them.

Just wondering.

my 231 failures only consist of 3 melty shift forks. and all 3 of them were caused by the thingy that the fork engages had oddly worn teeth.

i bet you could run a 35 on your rig and it would work pretty good. hard to break a rig when its in a garage all the time

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe I missed it, but I've never seen a D35 in the Baja 1000. Still doesn't stop that fact of broken teeth on the ring gear in an open diff on pavement with 235s. It's cool though, you can be a D35 fanboi, I just don't understand why you don't run the D44 TTB. I've taken apart both and shafts aside, the D35 setup is smaller in every way. The spindles/outers are the big thing besides the gearset. I have not been following, are you planning on running the full D35 TTB or are you doing a D35 center with a D44 TTB outer? At that point why not just narrow the D44 TTB to the right width?
Sorry if all this has been covered before. :laugh3:

Hardy Har Har. :moon:

I've got a lot of other things going on right now. Plus, nobody else been wheeling much. Billy had a run a little while back but I've got to much land to clear right now before any snowfall that amounts to anything.

Clear the land WITH your jeep. Problem solved, two birds with one stone.

You laugh, but I did use it to pull some large broken limbs down awhile back.
Otherwise, not much. Doesn't have the carrying capacity or storage it used to for some reason.
