i'll give you a hint..."Stop the catbox, stop the catbox"

i think its a line in pour some sugar on me by def leppard. and has something to do with "take the ramen, shake it up"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe I missed it, but I've never seen a D35 in the Baja 1000. Still doesn't stop that fact of broken teeth on the ring gear in an open diff on pavement with 235s. It's cool though, you can be a D35 fanboi, I just don't understand why you don't run the D44 TTB. I've taken apart both and shafts aside, the D35 setup is smaller in every way. The spindles/outers are the big thing besides the gearset. I have not been following, are you planning on running the full D35 TTB or are you doing a D35 center with a D44 TTB outer? At that point why not just narrow the D44 TTB to the right width?

Any of the more stockish-class Rangers would be running it.

High pinion, full case locker, thru-bolted bearing caps with supporting load bolts, in a non-stressed housing, in the front axle of a rig that weighs less than a stock XJ.

Lighter weight (aluminum housing vs. cast iron), better ground clearance. The only thing smaller than a D44 in mine will be the ring & pinion; both inners and outers will be 30-spline. D44 outers are basically a bolt-on after reaming the balljoint tapers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So really not a D35 at all then. Just the housing and ring & pinion. The later still bothers me, but I guess it works for some and its not like the SHO motor is pushing 300hp or 400ft lb either.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

definately better than the 35 we all know and hate. and i think the strength will only be questioned if bound up in the rocks. not going fast.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Getting stopped by state troopers and blowing a 0.25 on the side of the road doesn't leave ya much room for negotiation.
yeah there's pretty much no excuse for that... driving with that kind of a BAC is just plain retarded.

AND REVOLUTIONARY!
the most revolutionary thing about it is your d30 housing when the upper comes loose

I'll be honest, Chris' logic for running a 35 front in a race is... fairly sound. I wouldn't do it, because from what he's said a line mountain race could be run on 31s (iirc) which means to me it doesn't need much ground clearance anyways so why risk breakage, but what the hell, it's a front axle not a rear, racing not rock crawling, lighter rig, a real third member that only gets torque loads, and just to throw a wildcard in the mix, a million times as much torque/power applied.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

aperently older steerring wheels have a different off set then newer ones so that was a waste of time, it also takes a real long tome to turn a jeep around that has a spool and 2 flatish swampers

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ugh.

I want to go pick up that NV4500 in case it sells, but I don't want to regret not waiting and finding a diesel version at the same price.

I hate buying/selling stuff.

your always gonna find somthing better after you buy somthing

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hate buying stuff and selling stuff annoys me even more, so I usually put a real low price tag on it or just give it away

Scary part is, none of us had any idea. Based on his roadside sobriety tests, the cop's assessment was low 10's.

.08 really, really doesn't take much.

Key word highlighted.

You *could* do it, but it would suck, be rough as shit, in no way competitive, and probably not even fun.

Obviously I'm building this thing with a bias towards hauling ass, but I do plan on rec wheeling with it too as much as possible. No reason at all why it won't be a fun, capable trail rig.
