THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

and XXXX the guys with harleys running straight pipes who think its a splendid idea to tach thier bikes out through neighborhoods at 6:30 am.

and "bikers" wonder why much of society frowns upon them.
I've had hogs and choppers do that when they were going by me (in the opposite direction) as if to prove that his was cooler. I should start giving those guys the bird.

It's not all the bikers that are bad, there's a handfull that give the rest of us the bad name.

Bill, so as to not clog your property thread...

I'm very confused about that statement. :looney:
The van in your plans (that I now do not see...) looked like this sort of van:

WTF were you doing to accomplish all of that?
To more clearly answer your question, here is what I was trying to describe. It was my fault that I got the bike that far over. I should have gotten off the seat a little more. When the footpeg touched it unloaded the front tire just a little.

(PIC DELETED)

wtf? I have never ever been that close to the ground. I dont think i would feel comfortable. Maybe if i was racing i would do that but i dont see the need to on these shitty roads in the great state of MA.

on/off ramps :kissyou:

On ramps are usually increasing radius so that you can get up to speed safely and off ramps are usually decreasing radius so that you have time to slow down before the turn. Off ramps tend to be a little more fun for me because they're tighter.

there's a good chance that I'm riding western MA this weekend. If I do, do you want a ringadingaling?

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I dragged the pegs on a borrowed '93 Honda Shadow 600 once. That was an interesting experience...

That bike was actually pretty fun...and it was the exact same shade of glamour turquoise as my XJ. I probably would have bought it if the guy was interested in getting rid of it at the time.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got my Warn VR8000 installed last night and swapped on the wire rope for my synth line...this thing is a SHIT TON FASTER than the Smittybilt. Just gotta clean up the power leads and it'll be a nice upgrade to the rig.

The Smittybilt will enjoy a nice easy retirement on my trailer.

Nice! I wonder that the big difference is between it and the M8000. I'd guess the motor given that the specs on Warn's site says it is slower and draws less current but had the same gear ratio.

What are you doing with that steel cable? Interesting in selling it for a couple bucks (assuming it'll work on my M8000)?
As of right now I'm going down to DC the week before NACfest.

XXXX.
Deadline just got moved up!

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bike died on the way to work again today but this time it was on back roads (though I was pushing 9k-10k RPM when it started). Pulled over, let it die, started it up, and it ran fine afterward :dunno:

Anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

If I sit at 5k-6k RPMs on the highway (or apparently sometimes when I let it rev to 8-10k+ on back roads) the bike starts dying; more or less it keeps briefly shutting down. The tach drops to 0 for a split second before the bike jump starts itself and fires back up. Then it proceeds to start/die like that until I pull over and stop, let it die, then start it up again.

Only things I can think of are bad carb tune, bad plugs/plug gap, or bad fuel. The problem is so intermittent that idk how I am going to narrow it down. The carb was cleaned/tuned a couple weeks ago and I think the shop replaced the plugs too. The bike ran fine until yesterday including one or two highway trips. Right before I got on the highway yesterday I filled up at a 'new' gas station (one I had never gone to with the bike before but I always got gas there in the Altima). Not sure if bad gas would cause this type of behavior :dunno:

Now I have to decide if I want to start messing with the bike myself (drain fuel, check plugs, etc) or just bring it to the shop where the work was done and tell them it's fawked and I want to know if it's due to something that they changed.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scott, what something being partially clogged in the fuel delivery system?

Don't worry, I'll get to your house nice and early so we can put my Jeep on your trailer for the ride down. :D

Ya, I got the physics of that, I was just wondering where you were/what turn you were going around that you were going 60mph around a turn like that. I'm surprised the bike didn't just lose it in the turn once the front wheel came off, but then again it was probably only off for a fraction of a second, right?

I know you rag on Harley's and stuff, and say how a ton of people don't like them because of their personalities and the stuff they do, but I'm sorry I just find that stupid and dangerous. I've seen people with sport bikes do a lot more stupid and dangerous things than I have ever seen someone on a Harley do.
