THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't understand how everyone but me can simultaneously post in this thread WHILE working on their jeeps.
smartphones!

I've surfed the web while lying under my jeep taking a break from working on it before. I was really pissed and if I hadn't, I probably would have lit the damn thing up and put in an insurance claim.

here's hoping my stupid piece of shit jeep gets me at least 13 miles toward home, speaking of which

Well that explains the noise I heard.

 Is that dirt and mud that got in there? How could you ever let it get that bad?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Because it's like a 98% chance that you're going to be there. I didn't feel as though you needed to be asked. And I gotta meet up with Travis soon so that's the only reason I mentioned him. Colin was left out because he lives in some dumb area of an even dumber state and wont show anyways.

yeah ill be there fo sho to pay my memberships

I MIGHT actually be going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the first time in a LONG time!! I have my fingers crossed.

I used a compression fitting and put a piece of wire loom over it. I did it as a temporary fix but it worked so damn well i'm keeping it

compression fittings FTW. My green jeep had I think 3 of them in various areas of my braking system, and none ever failed me. I've never seen one fail on brakes, and I'm convinced it's a BS urban web myth.

It's actually ice/gear oil/ bits of bearings. I have no idea how it ever got that bad so fast. I didn't even have any seals leaking... I'm thinking maybe my breather line isn't sealed right or the plastic check valve was letting watter in when it rained maybe? there was solid ice in the oil passages to the pinion

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Holy crap, I am using my new 23" monitor off my laptop, and I dare say that coming from my 15" laptop screen, this is almost too big.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A compression fitting will fail you for vehicle inspection if the guy sees it and knows what it is, that's all I know. I ran one for a while and it never failed either, another rusty line blew up instead, but bad luck could result in the thing popping apart. They actually do make all-steel compression fittings for brake lines but IMO by the time I find one and buy it, I could have just done proper double flares and had it finished.

I'd rather drive a vehicle with a compression fitting on it than an XJ with the stock wire-coil-armored (and severely rusted) brake lines. Those things are salt magnets.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:dunno: the green jeep passed a couple times with 2 in plain sight, didnt say anything either time

Damn it...the internet gets awarded -500 points today for being full of shit. The Ford AOD transmission does *not* bolt to the Vulcan 3.0 V6, no matter how many people keep copying & pasting that bit of misinformation.

So it's either the A4LD trans, which is kinda sketchy with limited aftermarket...or a T-5 manual.

Maybe I'll keep this thing stick shift after all. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

WOOOOOHOOO! fawk yea

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd go with the manual.

I don't think I'll ever install an auto in another vehicle, especially after depleting current stock on hand. Only one spare left to go and it's for the 98. It's just not worth the time, if I'm going to screw around with things and put that much effort into it, it's getting a real transmission that doesn't have goofy fluid issues and valves and throttle cables and electronics and a paper thin pan on the bottom.

(I forget who said no need for an aftermarket thick pan for the AW4 but I did manage to give mine a little rock rash at some point)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i think im gonna be a little bitch tonight and not go out to the garage, getting a bad cold and its really kicking my ass

OK, I'll bite. How'd you figure out that they don't bolt up if the interwebz say they do and you don't have the parts in front of you?

I'd look into the reliability of really spanking the T-5 behind the Yamaha. I'm not sure it would hold up to the throttling a Line Mt. race would throw at it. If it's the trans I'm thinking of, I've heard of them shitting the bed on the track.

Nothin' wrong with keeping it manual. You obviously know how to drive it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If I do that, I'll have to restart my doubler project. I forget if I posted this before...

12 clockable positions for the shifter assembly and doubler body, clocking ring out back for the D300.

You assemble the input stage/planetary from the 231 into the front half of the housing, cut the ring gear out of the 231 and press it into the main body of the doubler, and the two halves bolt together at the orientation of your choice.

I got this far on it:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that's some really pretty billet aluminum you got there. I definitely like the idea, I think you posted it but I'm not sure.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I put that brake line in Jeff's Jeep without a problem.

I helped route that through...it wasn't that hard. Hooking it up and bleeding it, you did all that...but I did help snake it around all those wires and stuff.

SHUTUP Jeff does all his own automotive work

I do some small boring stuff that I don't feel the need to tell you. But, Adam sure does A_LOT of my sh!t.
