There isn't much high-speed stuff around us dude. If it was me, I'd worry about everything else first, then figure out what to do with gears and their cost. Gears in axles are cool, but axles underneath the XJ is cooler. Get that far then see what your budget is.Now, after all that, I don't think 4.10's would be a good choice if I ever plan on any high-speed stuff. The 4.0 just wouldn't have the power to do it. If I use 4.10's, I'll pretty much have to be in low/low for crawling and any time I want to go 'fast' I'd have to put one of the cases in high range and keep the other in low. I don't think I'd have any power with the 4.10's in high range.
