THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

in my eyes. the more things that can do work for me= the lazier i can be

and i hate stick in traffic

x2 i like being lazy while i wheel. thats two less things i gotta think/worry about, which gear and the clutch. like sam said before, auto's have less of a shock load to the rest of the drivetrain too.

having to sit in NYC traffic for a while in red jeep with a stick sucked bigtime. i like it when the flow is just barely moving and i can idle along in 1st.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken, which way do you drive to get down to Anthony's? I have some new stuff for him that he's gunna like and wants to play with.

It's not like you're constantly switching gears while crawling, you're in one gear and just working the clutch and gas.

So beef up your drivetrain loser :D

I just work the clutch in traffic.

Idling in 1st I'm only going like 2 mph so no problems here :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i posted a couple times when it started. but watching travis talk to himself got boring.

about page 1927 i decided to get back into it
Oh man, I couldn't stand reading that crap sometimes (no offense travis, but you talking to yourself just trying to get as many posts on one page was not too entertaining).

It runs+drives with the lights flashing and dash flashing(horns disabled, otherwise that would be going off too.)
Interesting, I know when I set the alarm off, it does all the flashy things and the horn, but when the car dies and it need to be jumped, it just does the flashy things, but no horn.
I'm going to say that the sentry module is most likely shorted/messed up, and is what is causing it. I would say to rip it out, which is what you're planning so that is good.

Where is the "brain" for it?:dunno:
Ill do some research after i get home from work...:badpc:

and ill def check the battery, thanks Mark!
Damn, I actually have this page bookmarked in my FSM, but that is at home and I won't be down there for a few weeks. I read up on the alarm not too long ago when I was doing some work on mine, trying to figure out why the alarm wouldn't disarm when I used the key on the drivers door (sensor fell off the door lock).

It is inside the cab, up high under the right side (if you are looking towards the front of the vehicle) of the drivers foot well I believe. If not, is the passenger foot well, but I think it is the drivers side. So basically it should be attached to the chunk of dash that is above the tranny tunnel. It should be out in the openish, you don't have to tear the dash apart I don't believe.

No problem. I've always liked those black older limiteds.

Probably 495 to 24 to 195, I'll be driving by your neck of the woods around 5:30 if all goes according to plan.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why are so many people against wheeling stick.

I went from auto to stick and don't plan on going back.

I'm bored.

Someone talk about something interesting.
Ross got me toys today. My pants will need to be on to use them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not all, but a lot of XJ front shafts are made from 2" x .120 tube. I've had great results using pieces of 1.75" DOM to make the driveshafts on my rig...chop the ends off a stock XJ shaft and leave a few inches of the 2" tube on either side, then just sleeve it over the 1.75" tube. The fit is tight enough that they usually wind up pretty true & balanced.
Awesome, thanks. Do you happen to know what the other (not 2"x.120") shafts are? I.e. do they have a different OD or how can you differentiate between them?

Yeah, you can do that, but putting a v8 ZJ front driveshaft behind a 4.0/ax-15/231 with SYE is perfect. They're $20 at the local PnP up here and there's always a good supply. Can't argue with that.
What yard is that? Most yards I have callled want more for than $20 for a DS (maybe they are quoting the price that if they pulled it :dunno:) and every yard I have looked at had no front shafts in any of the V8 ZJs.

I plan on running a V8 ZJ shaft if I can. If not I will start cutting/welding. Then I will probably make a trail and "just incase" backup shaft out of square tube if I can get some scrap cheap enough, or just extend whatever XJ shaft I can get on the cheap.

I sat in about an hour of stop and go traffic on 495 every day for two summers back when they were doing construction. That was from mid may through about the end of august. Did it with no AC, the 5-speed, and 3.07s with 33s. Now THAT brought the suck.

I just work the clutch in traffic.

Mine does that too now, so traffic doesn't bother me nearly as much. I just put it in first, let out the clutch, and idle along (dont even bother keeping up to cars in front of me since I will catch up eventually). I just start playing poker on my zune or something to kill time when I am in traffic now :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit, that last post was waaaay more than 3 lines... though i suppose the other option was to post-whore and make 4 different 2 line posts

Sam's on Granite st. in Worcester. Any shaft (axle shaft, driveshaft, etc) is $20.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scott, Sam's still charges 20 for a driveshaft. Bring your hi-lift or you'll pay another 20 per vehicle to get at them.

They charge 30 for d30 shafts with unit bearings on them, probably because of the bearing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I hi-lift the rocker panel then stuff a few rocks or anything solid I can find under the floor or unibody rail to keep it tipped. Typically I leave it like that when I'm done too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's awesome. Is he on steelsoldiers.com?

Oh, and anything RS delivers will probably be dropped off by the regular USPS guy. They ship those covers in flat-rate boxes.

No idea. All I know is he's a D-bag and routed the the drain from the road right into my yard and floods it every time it rains.

Totally got blue balled.
