THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so after driving a lifted jeep with big tires from 17-21, i finally got pulled over today for my tires sticking out too far. so now i gotta get some flares on in 20 days and get inspected and all that shat.

speaking of, ken, do you still have those tj flares?
Sucks... nope, they're gone as of February or March NAC express trip, forget which. Sold em to some guy in western CT.

That being said, drop by Sam's and I'm pretty sure you can get a set for 40, and completely sure you can get a set for 100 or less. Not sure any of the TJs have flares there but there is a blue '99 with a 4cyl that might still have flares on it. They've only got 4-5 wranglers atm and they're pretty hardcore picked over.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so we had a bunch of trees removed front our front yard today. dude that owns the company found out i weld and build stuff. he wants a gaint metal cage/box built in the back of one of his dumptrucks for the wood chipper to fill. i think i can handle it and it should land me a HEFTY sum of money, its gunna cost at least 4 dights in materials alone.

im thinking a frame built of 2x2x.25 and sheets of 1/8" to enclose it.

this is how big he wants it (wood sides and lower folding metal sides removed)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sheets of 1/8 is kinda thick... i'd think 14 gauge (or even thinner) would be plenty especially if it was just for chips...

yeah, i wasnt sure. the bottom metal sides now are 1/8" it looks like and have some good dents and stuff in them. i wouldnt use anything less then 14 gauge after watching their chipper in action.

maybe the bottom 2 ft use 1/8", the rest just some 14g?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

make the front a lil thicker cuz thats where they aim the chipper. the sides oyu can get away with thinner stuff for weight savings cuz that truck probly wont like the huge metal box theyre gonna stick on it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

State trooper or town cop?
I have never had a problem, and I had no flares at all for about a year, and only front flares for the last few months

state cop, there troop is the next town over so i see all of them all the time, drive by all of them, know half of them and this one guy randomly pulls me over

the front (the area right behind the cab) is part of the dumpbed. i would be making the sides, top, the front add-on box, and a set of barn doors on the back that go up to the bottom of the chipper shoot

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When I was in middle school I would take apart old computers and fix them. I would read everything I could get my hands on about computers. I ran linux on all the old pieces of junk I fixed and loved doing networking stuff. The only classes I ever got an A in highschool were networking classes that I didn't have to study for. I though for sure I would be going into the field. The summer I graduated I met a guy that let me work under him. I thought it was going to be awesome. I HATED it. Not to mention his eyes were bloodshot, he never slept and made crap money.

Now, I rarely mention I know anything about computers and try my hardest to unlearn any knowledge of what I've learned about them. I hate computers with my entire soul and want nothing to do with having to maintain them ESPECIALLY in a business setting.

Heard that. I happened to get blind dumb luck and fall in to systems engineering, specifically I want to be in integration and test. These are the guys that are in the field making the crap work together (basically what I'm doing now). It's a pretty laid back environment minus the deadlines, as we're supposed to have all the hands-on field knowledge that then gets relayed back into the design phase of the system we're integrating.

With any large company comes the bureaucracy, I'm just beginning to turn cynical and look past it.
