THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll probably be using much heavier steel than that because the strip has to run the length of the roof (3-4 feet) without any support in the middle, I'm thinking 1/8 or 3/16 thick 3" wide strip. Probably won't bend very nicely on the brake, but it'll do fine in my vise, which I was planning on using. Feel free to show up anytime, just alert me first so I can make sure I'll actually be present or tell you where I went because I may be spending the rest of the day building storage shelves out of 2x4s, plywood, and cement blocks at my storage unit, assuming I get the axle in quickly.
Why are you doing the length of the roof? I feel like that would interfere with vision and/or pose a "your head could his this" item in the case of an accident. I plan on making mine almost like a center console for the XJ. Have something wide enough for a stereo head unit drop down in the middle of the rig. Will also have a switch panel above it. I'm not gonna stop ya and I do have some heavier gauge stuff (3/16 or 1/4) that is probably 4'-5' long (3" wide) that I could part with if I decide not to use it.

Edit: one of the uses for the 5' of 1/4" i have is shoulder braces to help hold the weight of some of the sh*t I hope to carry out... aka I want to show up and carry out an absurd amount even if I don't need it. Game on.

Though if the steel is useful to someone else I will sell it for what I paid and call it a day. Then I will go dig in Everetts for something cheap that I can make braces out of maybe. We will see.

Well, on an MJ, there are no stiffeners welded to the underside of the roof that I could attach to halfway, there's just the one across the leading edge and the one across the back edge. So I'm going to bend up a strip of stock that bridges the two and follows the roof line very closely that goes between the sheetmetal roof and the headliner, that way I can bolt radios and whatnot to the strip (it'll run front to back pretty much right over the center console / between the seats) without having stuff sticking through the roof on the outside.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

YAY FOR STATE TROOPERS GIVING ME FENDER FLARE TICKETSSSS!!
Remember, when pulled over in RI by a state trooper, the correct answer is not "Yes Sir, Mr park ranger Sir", according to someone I went to school with it earns you a night in jail, and he wasn't the one driving. I still haven't got the whole story out of him

so when i pull the airbag from my 95 should i try and sell it or do somthing stupid with it? is do somthin stupid what should i do
save it, they go good in pumpkins.

on second thought, who has a birthday coming up, it would be one hell of a cake base

ah, well I THINK i picked up a piece of 5'x3"x3/16 for something like $12 locally. I can swing by on friday and show ya what I got, or I can stop by the yard on thurs and pick up similar pieces myself. I gotta stop by soon myself just might be doing so next wk... if needed I may be able to push it forward to tomorrow...

The price all depends on what they have in the "scrap" pile... aka what they have left from other peoples orders. That's how I plan on getting my steering/tie rod/front suspension pieces. Either order it in once piece or just go in from time to time and pick up their discount "scrap" stuff since from what I have seen the prices are pretty good.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've got a whole bunch of metal stock that'll work fine (including some 1/8 and 3/16 x 3"), I just need to get around to doing it :D

EDIT: brake pads + calipers came today, guess the rotors and other stuff I ordered are what's coming tomorrow

That's a good question, because I know I have 2 airbags from my '99 as well.

use it to shoot something heavy high into the air.

I don't know what the hell it(the airbag) was out of, but I've seen a 50(?) gallon barrel take out a street light before. Impressive.

Use it as a woopie cushion of sorts

kid I know, in my friends backyard :D no fractured vertebrae as far as I know :gee:

I can attest to that

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I deff want an invite to this airbag explosing day. I can try to grab some from the junk yards too. I hear that Caddy's have the biggest boom.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if you're ordering heims and tube adapters, get it from dan at ruffstuff. period.

the WJ swap is a hell of a lot more than you seem to be aware of. i wouldn't bother with it again.

heims in steering: i dunno, kind of a personal preference. TRE's are tighter, have less slop, and last longer. plenty of people do it with no ill consequences.
I do understand there is alot to the WJ swap... though I may be guessing a bit low. Regardless..

Is ruffstuff THAT much better? I mean looking at his page I see that prices start at $50 per joint. Now I wont deny that he carries a good product and the joints he has are worth the $$$... I'm just trying to figure out if they are worth the money for me, they are somewhat pricey compared to what I have liked so far. :dunno: Again not going to deny that they are worth the money... but I would rather reassure my heim decision with cheaper parts that last 6 months (then replace with good parts) than spend the $$ on good parts from the start and hate my decision for a long time.

First things first I am known for doing dumb sh*t like that even before the time of posting sh*t on the internet... but lately I don't do that stuff and if someone I know is doing something like that I will stop them. My father is a Chiropractor and I know for a fact based on past sh*t I have done that this is a horrible idea. I have heard a few stories over my years and have done similar stuff as a kid and stories have slowly turned into discussions regarding my own well being... now that I am older the parents just say "call insurance" if it's not something simple that the father can fix... Just saying.. as much as it sounds awesome now, when shit goes bad... I called it :D.

I would also appreciate an invite :D I haven't blown sh*t up in ages.

wut?

ruffstuff by far has the best heim prices around

they are also loaded (misalignment spacers, jam nuts, tube adapters) and come in pairs

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, i think sam just cleared up your confusion. the other prices you see are for just a bare heim. the ones ruffstuff sells come with all you need.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that's freaking sweet.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

We're going to be testing radio equipment in them at two points in MA, so I have to drive it out to these places on service roads and whatnot.

Guy was telling me how the roads weren't plowed in the winter and whatever and he just barrelled through them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that is all kinds of awesome. You should ask for an M715 or an M35 after that.

sounds like a jeep, just weighs more and has a diesel. and portals. and they're made for jumping.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They were built to jump, just not really built to land.

The rest of my MJ parts have arrived :yelclap: now I just gotta rescue my jackstands from my friend's garage
