THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I was just walking around the labs and saw one of the old Oscilloscopes I was using. Then remembered that I was told a few years back that it was a $50k piece of equipment. That one piece of equipment is still worth more than the value of all my possessions combined.
yeah, we've got some 7 million dollar logic analyzers in the lab here - the time scale on them goes down to something like 5 picoseconds per division, with either 32 or 64 channels. I had to scrape my jaw off the floor the first time I heard that. Makes the 120 thousand dollar 4-channel 8GHz DSO I used as an intern seem cheap by comparison.

EDIT: that timescale indicates that a 200GHz sine wave would show about 10 cycles across the screen. I don't even want to know what kind of RF black magic is used to get that kind of signal into the machine, and further, actually sample it.

Ugh i have to re-re-drill my track bar. . I think i drilled it over too far the first time my coil keeps catching up on the upper track bar bracket :banghead:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmm, just found a 98 XJ 5-speed with 90k miles (either 90k total or 90k on the engine... not sure which). Apparently very little rust and looks pretty clean, for a very affordable price. I think I may be picking it up if it's still available.

Only downsides are that it is a 4 door and it "needs some work in which I estimate to be close to $500 in Gear box adjustment, reworking the trunk door and driver window" whatever that is. I figure door/window work will be pretty damn cheap for me, and who knows what the hell "gearbox adjustment" is, worst comes to worst I can swap out the entire trans for pretty cheap.

probably just broken steering box mount, and a driver's window regulator.

Nothing wrong with 4 doors...easier to get stuff in and out of the back and the hinges don't sag like the 2 doors.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Agreed, I actually like 4 doors more... as a bonus they make better parts donors for MJs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That blows. I can't wait for the weekend. I'm going to do a massive burnout on Saturday with the MJ.

in that case

im picking up my tires saturday

and you arent stopping said burnout until i see sparks

I know there's nothing wrong with a 4 door. I just like my 2 doors thank you very much :D And I actually do have a reason for it too. I always have my windows down during the summer. I like having no B-pillar right next to me (aka I like the longer window and door opening). Just a preference and I can get over it if the price is right.

And when I read 'gearbox' I was thinking it meant AX-15 issues, not steering box. If it's the steering box then that is even easier to fix

Edit: Oh, and I just heard my Jeep is done  Hopefully will be able to pick it up before the wkend.

I like 2 doors and a bed.

:D
Yup :eyes:

Seriously, I never realized how useful having that is till I got one and casually threw an entire drivetrain and an engine hoist in the back... also fits two axles and a pair of doors rather nicely.
