THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds like you'll have some left over...:worship:
most likely, we'll see. So far it seems like it's performing Just Fine so I'll probably only replace the head to firewall ground and add a battery to frame ground. Sounds like I should keep the tools and cable in the back of the jeep till I see you again, going to lobsterfest?

Mine takes longer to start than I think it should(I know renix's take longer). I could pay you if you're going to make a set but it's no rush. I'm going to drive it as is for now. I will be working when all you guys are at lobster's so I wont see you.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sup asshole, I'm coming by tomorrow and I'm STEALING your ob2 scanner.

I wish you weren't a liar.

So who wants to come help put in some new leaf springs & front spacers this week?

Adam wants to replace my exhaust manifold, he has already committed and begged to do it...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If i'm not busy wednesday or thursday I can help out. Other wise next week. It shouldn't take long.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cmelo - pay for the materials used and they're yours. I'm not out to make money off crimping cables and stuff, just splitting up the costs of the materials keeps me from blowing quite as much cash having extra cable on hand though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds like a sweet deal to me

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

He might be up here again to redrill his rotors or i might go back down at some point to grab my engine hoist
ah ok. well, if that ends up happening can the transportation of the rollers be considered? i'm in need of them. kthanks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

a 25' roll of #2 welding cable

What I should have bought for my winch but I just went to home depot and grabbed #2 (stranded thin or something?). It had some UV protectant coating on it and had a lot thicker copper wires (though not as many).

Probably not ideal, but it works for now. I want to redo it with the welding cable in the future (read: when it's warmer out) and make a bracket for the solenoid box as right now it's just ziptied into place. It's not going anywhere though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

for the CTD? or in the future for your 60?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha nice.

Yeah, I am very tempted to do the same. I want as many thin strands as possible so I can avoid tracking down intermittent connections later, since this is gonna go from the engine to the frame, otherwise it'd already be done. X2 on the cold as well, I had absolutely no motivation to get up early and go to the JY for a new hood release cable today. I might actually buy one new (!?!?!?!) from mopardiscountparts or something

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The hood latch cable? Those are like $8 from crown.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

did you have to cut yours? the mechanism mounted to the underside of the hood of mine was sticking, so i lubed it and it works like new again. if you haven't cut it, i'd really just try taking it apart and lubing it. cables get gummy very easily.

Not quite $8 but times that by 2 and you got it...and as Anthony said, lube the crap out of all moving parts.

Ken, apparently we could have taken care of all your parts needs Saturday. :D

@#!%!#$%#$! Wish I'd known it was going to break.

Didn't have to cut it - the bellcrank on the new hood I got was one solid blob of rust, so I drilled out the pop rivets and put the one from the old hood on it. The plastic clip on the end of the cable sheath broke in half so it was flopping around uselessly, so I ended up connecting the half of the cable from the new hood (cut it in half at the junkyard because I was too lazy to disconnect it properly, it was really cold) and then duct taping the cut end of the sheath to the leading edge of the hood with the cable exposed :farmer:

Yeah, this happens to me quite often... see also: hp d30 with 4.10 gears, transmission I drove to NJ for when apparently 3-5 people up here had spares and I forgot/they weren't online when I posted the WTB thread, etc etc.

TeamCherokee has them for $18.95 plus shipping, I'm betting it's a Crown product... Jeff, you're about to get a PM. It's part number 5502 6030 from what I'm seeing here.

Even mopardiscountparts wants like 43 for a "factory original", **** THAAAAAAT!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So reading Ken's troubles with spending extra time or $$ on parts when they were easily available here...

Figure I will ask before I even need the parts, does anyone have (essentially) a full XJ with 5 speed to part out for me :roflmao: Ideally I would end up with:

  • AX-15 (preferably external slave)
  • OBDI 4.0 engine
  • computer/harness/all necessary parts to do a Renix -> OBDI engine swap.
Aka I want to swap a 4.0 HO OBDI and AX-15 into the MJ when I get it.

Or maybe I should just end up buying myself a parts rig.
