THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So reading Ken's troubles with spending extra time or $$ on parts when they were easily available here...

Figure I will ask before I even need the parts, does anyone have (essentially) a full XJ with 5 speed to part out for me :roflmao: Ideally I would end up with:

  • AX-15 (preferably external slave)
  • OBDI 4.0 engine
  • computer/harness/all necessary parts to do a Renix -> OBDI engine swap.
Aka I want to swap a 4.0 HO OBDI and AX-15 into the MJ when I get it.

Or maybe I should just end up buying myself a parts rig.

I have all of those things but they're MINE!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

check cl, I'm sure I saw a 5spd on there for pretty cheap a while ago. Search westernma and worcester craigslists, or use that nifty site that searches cl within a certain distance, I forget the name.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

don't even bother with the internal slave. just hold out for an external one.

I'm sure there's one up there. I forget the one that lets you search within a distance, but I use crazedlist.org... lets you pick what regions you search and I like it

Yeah, I have internal slave on my XJ. Hoping to swap that out sooner than later.

Before I even do much shopping.... is there any difference between the internal/external slave AX-15s other than that? Aka to swap an external onto my XJ would I need anything other than trans and clutch? Flywheel or input shaft differences?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

@#!%!#$%#$! Wish I'd known it was going to break.

Didn't have to cut it - the bellcrank on the new hood I got was one solid blob of rust, so I drilled out the pop rivets and put the one from the old hood on it. The plastic clip on the end of the cable sheath broke in half so it was flopping around uselessly, so I ended up connecting the half of the cable from the new hood (cut it in half at the junkyard because I was too lazy to disconnect it properly, it was really cold) and then duct taping the cut end of the sheath to the leading edge of the hood with the cable exposed :farmer:

Yeah, this happens to me quite often... see also: hp d30 with 4.10 gears, transmission I drove to NJ for when apparently 3-5 people up here had spares and I forgot/they weren't online when I posted the WTB thread, etc etc.

TeamCherokee has them for $18.95 plus shipping, I'm betting it's a Crown product... Jeff, you're about to get a PM. It's part number 5502 6030 from what I'm seeing here.

Even mopardiscountparts wants like 43 for a "factory original", **** THAAAAAAT!
i might be in the market for a d30 w/ 4.10's.whos got em?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Everyone except me :roflmao:

I've seen a couple in the classifieds, but I think they've sold. Not sure.

EDIT: that's the one, thanks Bob

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm... somehow i missed that. when'd you post it?

looks like they're going in thursday evening whenever travis gets here. i need to either get a new floor jack, cheat and get a warranty replacement on the one i have, or rebuild it with new seals.

not gonna worry about silly things like brake lines or driveshafts yet though. just going to bolt the axles in. i do want to get the pitman arm reamed out though. also not going to worry about the body side TB mount. i don't even have rollers for it yet to roll it around the driveway.

afaik the only difference is the bellhousing, and obviously the slave itself. I believe the MC is the same. Clutch etc should be fine.

ALSO: I'm watching Macgyver and there's a renix XJ white, painted bumpers and flares, Laredo(?) or one of the higher end packages, and 5 speed :D God I love this show. hahah

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, i have a spare external slave bellhousing

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

he tells the truth. they're easier to clean out of your ears too.

Posted it this morning.

Sounds good. Your driveshafts should bolt right up no problem. The front brakelines would be the only area where there MIGHT be a problem. I forget what banjo bolts Travis used. If they're the same as mine then there shouldn't be a problem.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ok. did you have to drill out your RE lines like we were talking about or what did you do to fix the issue?

Got a GM banjo bolt that threaded in and fit through the RE lines.

Can't remember if Travis used the same one or not...because he had Ford outers.
