THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah. not something I can buy right now, but I wouldn't be against just finding an lbz and getting the harness etc all with it out of a wrecked truck or something, then tune it with efi live for the zf6

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

some lbz's came factory with zf6 so it shouldn't be that hard to adapt to your truck

not that I've read. and from what I'm seeing, doing either an lly or lbz into an 01/02 is ****ing shitty. 03/04 is much easier. haven't found out what makes it such a pain but apparently it is.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

12V swap.

I swear I almost said this but then I thought to myself... Self, that is retarded. Keep it to yourself.

Our administration sent us a PDF with the FAQ about furloughs. it's 40 pages long... :wow:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

over on cumminsforum theres a dude that swapped a 12v into a newer ford to get rid of the 6.4. only cummins I see into chevys are the older pre-00 versions.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

there's a first for errthang

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got asked to do this side project over the weekend...my buddy is putting in a sliding access gate at his shop and needed the gate built.

At 30' x 6' it's probably the largest thing I've built to date...kind of a fun project and a good refresher on notching & welding tube joints for when I start my cage (soon).

We got it sitting on the rollers yesterday...he's pouring the slab for the opener sometime this week and it should be fully functional by next weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

would anyone around Binghamton, NY be interested in buying my old s10? Needs brake likes and body repair. I have a brand new passenger front fender and grill for it. No A/C and heater core needs replacing. Exhaust is shot.

1992 S10 longbed
Mechanically sound - 2.5L Iron Duke, 5 speed, 2wd - runs and drives ~140k miles I think
does not currently stop without ebrake - blew 2 hard lines last time i ran it around the yard
Interior is in great shape
Looking to get $600

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so I got more details on that CTD I was talking about.

its an 01 3500 dual 260000 miles.
all new tires, bunch of new stuff in the front end like bearings and ball joints and stuff, new transfer case. only thing is it doesn't shift into overdrive.

I think I could probably buy it from him for around 6-7k.

sound like a good deal? its better then all the stuff Iv seen for sale around me.

milage is kinda high. but the CTDs are supposed to run forever

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got a galaxy s3 yesterday. really cool phone. puts my old samsung charge to shame. lost unlimited data tho :-(

I've already been burned on a dodge 4xre/rh series trans, so my opinion is no ****ing way, but if you don't mind rebuilding it (or possibly just adjusting the bands?) and being real gentle it might hold together.

Put it this way, I ended up getting calls from no fewer than six cummins/auto owners looking to swap to a manual when I had that nv4500 listed on cl. One guy said he was already on his third rebuild and had even put a billet converter, shift kit, etc in it the last time, was tired of it blowing up, though he might have been a tuner/diesel ricer from the sound of it so I am not sure I'd take his repeated tranny explosions into account.

e: here is a rebuild tutorial on the 46re, which is pretty similar to the transmissions in the cummins diesels from what I've been told - they're basically beefed up versions. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/46re-tutorial-911009/

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

go to a real diesel shop and have them build the trans, not gonna be cheap but it will be bomb proof

My friend (who actually knows shit about transmissions and isn't your everyday Cummins ricer owner) had a tuner with a bone stock 47RE behind it. All he did was upgrade the valvebody (cheap - basically flows fluid in P and firmers shifts, etc.) and the thing lasted a long ass time. The only problem he had was pushing through the converter laying into it uphill (would happen to a stock clutch in a stick anyway).

He opened it up when he finally got tired of that happening and all the gears/bands/clutches were still beautiful at around 130k miles.

If you know what you're doing, they're decent transmissions.

x2. I know someone through my friend at work who can build transmissions that actually last and knows wtf he's doing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

thanks guys, yea I dont plan on doing dick to the truck, just get it working properly and use it as a reliable tow rig slash house parts go getter.

no tuner or fancy bRoss shit here

Cool, good to know. I guess they don't like retard behavior like smoke chips/burnouts etc or something... who would have guessed :wow:

I did read about the oiling in P/N mods, I can't believe they wouldn't do that from the factory.

TF727s don't flow fluid in park either.

They never had a problem with it.

Something to do with the newer transmissions. No idea why.
