is no longer where it ought to be. don't really give a shit what it is. motor exploded. that's the details that count for now :-/

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

No way!
Top or bottom end?

I'll keep a lookout for an LBZ block. What are your plans?

plan is to leave work at noon today, go to carmelo's dad's and buy a focus, once that's on the road and i don't need to be borrowing vehicles, i'll pull the motor out of herman and see what the hell happened. definitely bottom end. hard to see up there in the dark and with all the IFS bs so i'm not positive if shit came thru the block or just the pan. even if it's just the pan obviously i'll need to tear it down to see if the block's still good and blah blah. so first order of business, purchase drivable vehicle. second order of business is kick herman in the face. third, figure out what to do to fix that ***muffin

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think all 12qts of oil actually washed away already

Travis and I were literally in my driveway after Carmelo Dundy and Pat left just talking and trying to guess at why his truck was blowing blue smoke (almost stops smoking when warm). I figured maybe valve seals or something, when it sits maybe the oil drips down into the cylinders and by the time he drives it for a bit it's all burnt off.

So he leaves, I go back into my tent and collect some tools, all of I sudden I hear "rev....BAM". I was like "wtf was that...?" Then I hear my phone ring and I'm like "no ****ing way...". I run down to JUST onto 138 to meet him and it had basically dumped all the oil out and he shows me a chunk of cast aluminum (oil pan?). So we flat-towed it to my dad's friends shop like 200 ft down the road.

Tried to load it on my trailer. Wasn't happening, mine wasn't long enough and almost 0 tongue weight with his truck being so long. The frame was bowing a bit too. Scott was generous enough to come down and tow it back to his house for him. Took the spare from my trailer though since he still had a bald tire on it from FC .

Talk about a shit day though. Let me know if you need any help with anything T-pain.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Was it doing that smoking thing before you took it apart? I can't imagine anything you did for the injectors causing this.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah but before injectors it was running WAY worse. the injectors made a huge improvement, and the truck was running fine once it warmed up. prior to injectors it wasn't driveable period.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah we'll see. just guessing games until it comes out, and to be honest i don't really give a shit what happened other than BOOM cya

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dude shipped my welder out Friday from Missouri, apparently it is delivering today. I don't know what possessed him to ship a 70 pound box USPS Priority, but I'll take it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just read something saying leaky injectors can cause extra fuel to super heat the piston and cause it to seize. i hope the block is good for core charge sake.

http://www.blackwaterengines.com/engine.php?id=LB7-66-Duramax

from their site: "Core charges may apply for engines with visible holes or cracks, busted geartrain housings, broken rods or cranks, & engines that are locked up."

hahahaha. so the "core" is likely worthless.

take bottom end apart
free jam
put parts in oil pan
reassemble
:lecture: engine spins

edit: probably not the best idea in all seriousness.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scrap is a couple cents a pound?

mm might have $50 :woohoo:

yeah. your third step is flawed though, seeing as i don't think the pan is capable of holding much anymore

It'll all get figured out, just not today or tomorrow or this week.
