Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just reread that entire thread to see what you're talking about for saturday and i still have no clue.
different thread - http://forum.undergroundjeeps.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3232

i wont wheel as extreme trails in the j10 as i did the xj
I wonder how many runs this statement will hold true for :spin1:

Also, if I had the spare cash to buy your 60 right now, I'd be on my way over.

I just verified that:
1. a 98 XJ with 2 dead cylinders will still do 100mph on flat ground without really putting my foot in it very much
2. it still gets 13+mpg while averaging 80mph.

How? I have absolutely no idea.

i went through that, it was a rough process. i needed my birth certificiate, SS card, my work ID (had a picture), and the title to my jeep.

SS card got cut up with my current license, washed my birth cert a while ago. my whole wallet got cut up into confetti.

im pretty much f-ed

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I didn't get to start on my cooling system this weekend, but I took advantage of the daylight/nice weather Saturday and finish welded/boxed in/painted everything I could (bellypan, rear crossmember, mid crossmembers, traction bar, rear axle tbar mounts, 205 rear mount). Just have to finish weld the doubler adapter and paint that.

I'm also going to start completing the drivetrain (welding 241, twin sticking 205, painting, etc.) during the weeknights.

I'm debating mounting the radiator to rubber isolators, or using the same adhesive back rubber that I used for the fuel cell and doing something similar. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the rubber stuff can take the heat of the radiator. The rubber isolators I wouldn't have to worry about. I'd use something like my trans mount as rubber isolators at the four corners of the radiator. Thoughts?

idk if the fuel cell rubber will hold up, maybe see if you can grab something poly? energy suspension's list of stuff is ridiculous, i'm sure they have something that will work well. i started building a crossmember for my jeep this weekend, it came out ok, i didn't attach the skid to it yet. then sam said he was parting out his jeep last night and i'm just going to buy his tnt bellypan instead  i did get some good welds on it though, and all the material was free, so it was good practice at least.

Yeah I looked it up and the foam/rubber stuff is only good to 160º so I won't be doing that.

I'll just do the rubber isolator deal unless anyone has any better ideas.

I did like my TNT bellypan. Never had an issue with it.

Sounds like you were productive. I on the other hand, broke my throttle body spraying gasoline everywhere and caught my honcho on fire.

Got a ride to school in a Porsche this morning though.

I do have some of the isolators you're talking about from my Dodge though. They're pretty large.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

in that case one of the most iconic xjs is also one of the biggest pieces of shit lol

Funny how that works, huh? :dunce:

I bought the hell outta Harbor Freight this weekend:

- 4 6-ton jackstands
- 3-ton floor jack
- 25-foot retractable hose reel
- shit ton of air hardware for the compressor plumbing
- adjustable height roll around stool
- creeper w/headrest
- 2-ton folding shop crane
- 4 pc. pry bar set
- some kinda snap ring plier set
- A few small magnetic parts trays

Also got the warranty on the shop crane and floor jack. Even with that, between sales and coupons I'm into it all for about $550.

So far I've been pretty impressed with the quality on a lot of this stuff. I'm assembling the shop crane after work today, that was a heavy SOB to lug home by myself.

Side note, the new Corrosion of Conformity album kicks ass.

Oh and Dundy, Carmelo and I removed the bellhousing from the AX15 and I took it in the back of my truck.

Sweet. I'll probably call you later to grab it before I forget.
