THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So far I've been pretty impressed with the quality on a lot of this stuff. I'm assembling the shop crane after work today, that was a heavy SOB to lug home by myself.

it sucks to move, even assembled. the wheels suck taint, especially with a motor attached to it. besides that, it works great.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Funny how that works, huh? :dunce:

I bought the hell outta Harbor Freight this weekend:

- 4 6-ton jackstands
- 3-ton floor jack
- 25-foot retractable hose reel
- shit ton of air hardware for the compressor plumbing
- adjustable height roll around stool
- creeper w/headrest
- 2-ton folding shop crane
- 4 pc. pry bar set
- some kinda snap ring plier set
- A few small magnetic parts trays

Also got the warranty on the shop crane and floor jack. Even with that, between sales and coupons I'm into it all for about $550.

Side note, the new Corrosion of Conformity album kicks ass.

For future reference a HF warranty is a one-time deal. If it breaks in the 1-2 years that you pay for(which is a percentage of the tool cost IIRC) you get to use it once. Meaning if you need to replace it again you have to pay for ANOTHER warranty when you are getting it replaced.

is that on certain items though? my buddy bought the $9.99 grinder and went through 3 in a day... all under warranty.

Was that under the 30 day or whatever warranty that comes with everything? I'm talking about the extended warranty. Basically just buy stuff when you're about to use it so if it breaks you can return it or get your money back. It's either going to shit the bed immediately or last forever, or atleast long enough you don't give a shit if it breaks because you got your moneys worth.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Make sure you tighten the casters on that thing, and check them often (or dump loctite on the threads)

I already had to junk one because they loosened up and I didn't realize it, then they wallowed out the holes and broke off.

You do have a welder right? Shoulda weld dat shit back on

Ya might be the 30 day whatever the XXXX warranty.

I am really sore... time to fix that by warming back up with another load of shingles.

Jackstands are good, I have a bunch
floor jack is good and will lift a front wheel of my 5ton, barely. It will slowly lower under lots of weight though
hose reel is made of crap plastic iirc
air hardware is good
Shop crane is good, will slowly lower things (very slowly) but the only thing I ever broke was the casters, dragging it around in mud with an engine on it
I bet you bend the shit out of those prybars
I bet the pliers suck
the parts trays are ok and so are their welding magnets.

Ken clean out yo pms
Shit will do

That's pretty much what I figured, it was $20 for a year so I'll know by then what holds up or not.

There are also signs all over the store advertising a lifetime warranty on all their hand tools - sockets, wrenches, etc. Curious to know how good they are about that.

Anything with the pittsburg name on it has the lifetime warranty, not everything. If it's a pittsburg you get a brand new tool. I've done it a few times now. As a matter of fact I'm starting to replace my craftsman sockets with their good sockets for that reason.

Between me and what I buy for my dad's shop I'm a harbor freight expert.

The hose reel is metal, and the recoil spring feels like it could double as a winch for pulling things into the garage. And surprisingly it came with a nice rubber hose instead of some crap PVC one.

I'm not expecting much from the pliers or prybars, but they cost under $10 combined and were conveniently placed at the front of the store, so I impulse bought them and figured I'd give 'em a shot until the need arises for something better.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Huh, must be better than the one we got at work just before I left. Thing was a piece of shit.

The yellow air hoses from lowes suck horribly... stiff as wire in low temps and super floppy in the summer, constantly tore near the fitting, and actually split down the side in the middle a few months after I bought it. Been really happy with the clear yellow/orange fiber reinforced one I got to replace it though.

Starting to look like a garage.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i love that the one thing i posted as"im not putting a price on it so best offer" gets the most action and every single person asks for a price.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

why not just ask a price? Just wondering?

because i dont know what its worth to somebody.

its one of a kind, and beat up pretty good. the bumper is straight with just rock rash, but the tire carrier has been bent and repaired, and the 1/4 guards have bulletholes and leftover flare material on them.

it can be cleaned up real nice however. if i had the time to make it perfect i would ask around $800 for the whole setup.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh dear god. some dude on the internets is trying to tell me 38" boggers are radial tires.

he is somewhat interested in my creepies, but if he thinks boggers are radial i dont think i want to deal with him and the possible headaches
