THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

agreed. Or drill holes in the exhaust and put cards in the wheels so it sounds awesome.

You might have to switch to wire spoke rims to get the cards to stay.

Ross how many housings have you straightened?

Two rear 9"s, first one was more instructional and I did more watching then working. I couldn't believe how much you can get a tube to move with just heat.

Speaking of which, I gunna see if anybody local can make me an alignment bar and order some carrier pucks so I can do more axle work. A friend of my dads is building an old nova and wants a 12b axle narrowed. I told him Id do it for free, he just has to buy me the alignmant bar/pucks in exchange.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

9"s have wet noodles for tubes. i might try the heat n quench method first using a dummy axle in it. it appears my short tube is more bent, but i was able to assemble that side no problem. once i get the tube centered enough around the shaft ill probably just run it like that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if you do that make sure you get the stuff you need to do 60s :eyes:

if I can get a 60 narrowed without paying a ridiculous amount I'd much rather run that than screw around shaving a 14bolt.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Here goes another 'What car should I buy BS' question.

The Rabbit's not going to start, I'm 99% sure I XXXXed something up in the pump when I took it apart without a manual. Oops. Considering the block has a crack, I'm not going to throw a pump on it, or have this one rebuilt, it wouldn't be worth it. So here are my options/thoughts.

1. See if I can snag a motor/parts car from a guy at work who has 11 Rabbits. Fo realz, 11 of them, this guy is tapped. I wouldn't drop more than ~$500.

2. Buy a MK4 TDI/5spd Golf, Jetta, Passat or whatever. They get awesome MPG's, but I've heard MK4's can be an electrical nightmare.

3. Buy an early 2000's Impreza wagon, or a Forester with a 2.5/5spd. My aunt has a Forester and consistently gets ~25MPG, plus it's AWD, fairly fun to drive and pretty reliable. Any downsides/problems you guys know with these?

4. Buy a cheap, ie $1000 or less, bike and DD that for the summer, then buy a car come fall/winter when I can get more money saved up.

5. Other input...?

Buy a scooter

Any car over $20 is over priced.

part out the xj and make a bitchin j10? the more i think about it. the more i think its dumb to drive that thing to nac fest the way it is. and i probably wont be able to tow it down given my current financial situation. i will probably keep the shell in hopes of reviving it once i get a reliable tow rig.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Waited two weeks for my MJ repair manual to show up, got it Friday, took it to my parents and left it there, fml

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Commuting on 95 everyday on a scooter would be awesome.

True life. Gimme that hookup, I promise to share my farts if you do...

We sell gay cars all the time in the $800-1000 range. Which is basically what my cherokee is worth, I just trade up. If this car poops, I give it back and get another one that's equally crappy. I always let people know when there's a somewhat interesting car at work but most of the time we sell them to dealers who want to flip them for profit.

If you find a decent 4cyl 5spd let me know. I'm ready and willing to drive a flamboyant car to get good mileage.
