Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I focking hate steepandcheap.com. They always sell awesome gear at too good of a price.

YOU did say always. :D

Watch those kinda sites, rarely are they good deals. Most of the time they are refurb/return junk and/or the price after shipping is so close to what you could get it locally for it is not worth it. For example that dog toy; $4.99 + 6.77 shipping, totaling $11.76. Or I could get it at my local Dick's Sporting Goods (google found it for me) for $9.99 plus 6.25% tax for $10.61.

I'd be in trouble if I was like that. I love dogs.

Hahaha

I wouldn't buy that chew toy, but for things like the backpacking stove, tent, and sleeping bag, it works well. You can also do combined shipping on items. Everything I've ordered has been BNIB and worked flawlessly. I know a lot of other people who have never had a problem with the equipment they bought there.

Now, I'm not saying that everything is a good deal, but a lot of it goes at a pretty good rate.

I love dogs too. :( I have to bring my inhaler whenever I go somewhere there's dogs because I can't not play with them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks. I wager I can get the brake job done in a morning or afternoon. The only crappy part is that the pistons have to be rotated back into the caliper. You can't just use a C-clamp.

Ya, I did rear bakres on my friend's infinit last year. He came me me saying his brakes were making a weird scrreeching noice, I looked and the wheel was brown from the dust, and the rotor was litterally grinded to half the thickness because of metal on metal.

Whem trying to get the piston to go back in, I bend a c clamp, and was confused why anything I did wouldn't work. I then went inside and checked and found out you need to twist it, I had never seen that before.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like big dogs.

I hate little dogs. I just want to punt them.
Agreed.

Ok, fine. I'll give you that one, but I consider little dogs ankle biters or floor mops, not dogs.

It's something to do with the e brake, IIRC.

 How much???

~$630 shipped.

I need to double check the tires clear the outer fenders at full bump/lock up front and measure for bumpstops as well as bolt the driveshaft in and check for limit strap lengths at full droop which is probably somewhere around 25".

Do I account for 1-1.5" of stretch in the straps? I forget. Bill/Chris help me out here.

Once all that is done, then I can drop it down for good and assemble the front/rear axles.

I don't know how limit straps work, but I'd guess that they're static webbing, not dynamic. At least, I'd want mine to be static. Static = no stretch. Dynamic = stretchy. Those are rock climbing terms, but I imagine it's the same technology.

Also, I've only ever seen static webbing. Dynamic rope is used for safety rope if you slip. You want that to stretch a bit rather than being a hard stop...

Depends on the brand and the type of stitching they use.
Beard/RedArt (who I think used to/still do make them for PolyPerformance, but double check that) told me to account for 0.75" to 1" per 12" of total strap length for a quad wrap. In other words order a 11" quad wrap strap for a 12" limit length, or a 22" strap for 24" limit length.
Mastercraft told me less stretch I think, but their straps were a lot more expensive so I passed.

You can also always add a twist in them if you need to bring them up a bit more.

Good to know.

I'll probably be ordering mine through poly or ruffstuff and just ask them personally.

It's pretty important for me as I don't want to max out my driveshaft and blow shit up.

you fail for ordering shocks through poly
