THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do I account for 1-1.5" of stretch in the straps? I forget. Bill/Chris help me out here.

Yes.

I don't know how limit straps work, but I'd guess that they're static webbing, not dynamic. At least, I'd want mine to be static. Static = no stretch. Dynamic = stretchy. Those are rock climbing terms, but I imagine it's the same technology.

No.

I'm grumpy.

I didn't get to bed til 4:30 last night after working late at the shop, then my truck battery was dead at 7:00 this morning when I went to leave for work.

Had to walk around the corner to the deli I used to go to everyday when I worked construction (haven't been in there in ~3 years). Luckily the guy behind the counter recognized me and loaned me his car, which I drove back over to my house to jump the truck. Then I got a pork roll & cheese sandwich and left a pretty big tip, and promised I'd come back more often.

Then I got to work nearly an hour late.

Pretty shitty way to start a week. Hope the week gets better for you

Anyone want my old MJ shackles? Bushings are gross though. Free.

Also, 4.10 HP60 gears and LP60 32-spline carrier with 3.55 gearset. Both used, Free.

And finally HP44 4.88 gearset. Used, Free.

This stuff is just taking up space now.

Why do you want limit straps to be stretchy?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The issue is not that I want or don't want them to be.

You're welcome to go try and find some on the market that don't stretch though, if that's what you'd prefer. :D
I'm sorry you're in a bad mood today, but why am I the target? I'd be pissy if I had the morning you did too.

I guess I should have phrased it:

"Why does one want limit straps to stretch?" or "Why did the engineers who designed them reason that strechiness would be beneficial?" or "Why do they stretch?"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anthony you're missing the point.

I'd imagine that getting straps that don't stretch when 1000+ lbs of unsprung weight are dropped upon them is going to result in some expensive custom made straps.

Having straps that don't stretch would be wonderful. Go try finding some that aren't extremely expensive.

Besides the bushings which I'm sure I can find anywhere, useable?
The '99 needs some new shackles and 1/2" more in the back wouldn't be a bad thing.

You don't, they just are.
Not a big deal, just account for it when buying them / building mounts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Shackles are definitely useable sure.

Just need a good cleanup.

I'll send you a pic when I get home and you can let me know.
Sweet. Thanks dude!
As long as the metal is in good shape and not rotted, I'll take them please.

Jeff can get me XJ shackles for a decent price, but if I get shackles for next to nothing and the bushings are cheap too, even better.

Edit: Lame. :(

I guess. Like you said it's not a big deal, but I'm surprised someone hasn't developed a non-stretchy version (at a reasonable price).
