THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam, you should get this subwoofer.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm getting 2x6 3/16 for the actual rockers but I just don't want to have to buy more shit for the legs.

Chris can probably chime in with more advice, I'm far from an expert on this shit.

I just went with the tried and true 2x2x.250 since my MJ will be fairly heavy when finished and I plan on landing on my rockers a lot.

Cheap/free is the name of this game. I want it to sound good. Not ridiculous.

See what you can find on craigslist. Make sure the voice coil leads aren't blown and the surround is nice and tight. Tighter surround = punchier.

What amp do you have? Do you already have a HU with RCA preouts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My CEL in my VW is a misfire on cyl 1 and intake runner stuck open. Further investigation yields that it might be the injector clogging causing the misfire. The coil is also soaked in oil. Could be either the valve cover gasket that's loose or blown. Might also need to do the PCV fix.

Time for:
Oil change (have to do that anyway)
Fuel filter
Plugs
Valve cover gasket

Hoping I don't need injectors. Is there a way to flush out injectors to clean them rather than replacement?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got some 4 gauge that i can steal from you? Maybe some RCA signal cables? How about a small amp. My amp is way too big for what I need.

I KNOW YOU GOT SOMETHING KEN DON'T LIE TO ME!

If I had known you wanted some I wouldn't have had it thrown away, oh well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

which is why i'll never drive a VW without a warranty. how many miles on that thing?
Just hit 83k. The car has been very easy to work on and were it not for an enormous pothole, this would be the first thing that's gone wrong in a year and half. I consider most of the things I need to do right now general maintenance.
That blows.

I'm sure there is, I've never done it though.
I'm convinced that the intake runner stuck open is due to oil leaking out around the plug and into the coil. A good cleaning and replacing the other parts should fix that. Some people say they've just tightened the valve cover down more and the leak goes away, but I'm just going to replace it while I'm in there.

There's been a big problem with the factory PCV's blowing but I'm not sure whether or not that's already been done on mine. I might get a catch can setup.

6 months or so worth of catch can fluid. Fairly convincing...

Might as well do the hub seals while you've got it apart. I had to do mine not too long ago.

Also, make sure you get the AAM-sized u-joint and not a Spicer-sized joint.

Already got them, I mighta smashed one on removal :dunce:

Do you have to remove the hubs to get to the e-brake stuff...?

I didn't need to on my D80...?

Never worked on an AAM11.5.

The 1T DRW disc setup on a 11.5 still uses the lugs press thru the rotor and hub. The smaller styles have slip-on rotors. Its pretty legit, I got the shoes in. Tomorrow when I get home I'll slap everything together.

At least he didnt find out about my pile of 2x2 :shhh:

Remove injector and clean it out that way, get a pick or something into the nozzle and make sure theyre clear.

Aren't there diaphragms in there that I could puncture?

A quick search resulted in me agreeing with myself that using a pick would indeed be dumb. A pick wont fit into the jets of a carb(closest thing to an injector i've cleaned) and an injector I would think could get wallowed out easily since they're plastic. They make needles that might be able to do it but I've used injector cleaner in a bottle and it definitely makes a difference.

We should go to Zacharys tomorrow morning.
