Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wrong, it's an iPaD.

(anyone who types in that retarded "uppercase everything except vowels" manner should really be slapped on the back of the head with a monkey wrench)

The standard SIG P226 incorporates a decocking lever on the left side of the frame above the magazine release button, which first appeared on the Sauer 38H prior to World War II, and allows the hammer to be dropped safely. In chambering or firing a round, the actuation of the slide automatically cocks the hammer. By using the decocking lever, the hammer can be de-cocked without actuating the firing pin disconnect, making it impossible to accidentally fire the weapon by using the decocking lever. Furthermore, using the decocking lever makes the weapon "drop safe," which means the firing pin will be blocked from striking a loaded round unless the trigger is pulled. Pulling the trigger and slowly lowering the hammer does not make the weapon "drop safe," and can result in an accidental discharge if sufficient force is applied to the hammer. Properly decocked, the pistol can be holstered safely and can be fired in double action mode by simply pulling the trigger. There is no manual safety to manipulate, as the SIG P226 incorporates only internal safeties. Double action trigger pressure is approximately 10 pounds. Subsequent shots are fired in single action mode with a lighter trigger pressure of approximately 4.4 pounds. As with other DA/SA pistols such as the HK USP and Beretta 92F, some training is required to minimize the difference in point of aim caused by the different trigger pressure between a first double action shot and subsequent single action shots. The hammer may also be manually cocked at any time by the user to fire in single action mode

(The P229 is a compact variant of the P226)

Both my dad and uncle have Kimber 1911's and they are absolutely an amazing piece of art and firearm in the same package. They shoot beautifully smooth and hold very well. I just can not justify that price for a pistol at my age.

Let me w___ that for you?

The info you quoted I was mostly familiar with. The idea of the decocking lever being different than just easing the hammer down is new to me and pretty neat.

The more I read the more it seems like an external safety is unnecessary.

They are fairly expensive, but so are Sigs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've had my eyes set on a P226 for awhile, just can't seem to ever have the funds for it.

Also, anyone care to guess how fun it is to get your IP removed from spam blocking sites because your off-site email host had an issue? Yeah. Fun. Lots of Fun.

At least the NAC lots-o-guns thread is more interesting than lots-o-martha stewart cooking time thread.

My friend just sent me a link to a craigslist add for Warrier Products, looking for a mechanical or design engineer. One of their prereqs is an enthusiast. Its in Oregon.

You know... maybe I'm dumb and my father and friend own P226's. Chris mentioning the P229 was it's little cousin got me thinking. My friend used to own a single stack .40 S&W with a shorter barrel that he sold because he not only never carried it but didn't really like how it felt compared to his duty weapon. It was the little cousin to his duty weapon... And I know my father owns a stagger stacked .40 S&W like my friend's duty gun...
edit: no, they're definitely both P229's... The P229 looks to be stagger stack and the 226 single. Maybe my friend's other gun was a P239...

They're not cheap, and you have a house to build...

Forgot to add the the main issue started because ComCast does not set up unique PTR records by default. :flamemad:You have to request it for each IP.

So because it doesn't interest you we should stop chatting about it? :D

Which is precisely why a lot of the "fun money" has stopped flowing.

None needed. Once I've got a bit more paperwork done I'll have a very large project to occupy my time. Some of you know how nuts I've been going with "nothing" to do when I get home.

Bill, did you end up getting that pork?

I've had my eyes set on a P226 for awhile, just can't seem to ever have the funds for it.

Me being <130 lbs I like the compact frame a little more...also just from shooting experience it's what works best for me.

Hey IT guys, here's something weird that I'm not going to call our service desk about. The approved browser here is IE7. Every so often it'll just decide to stop browsing...whether you click on a link or type a new address in, it'll just sit there idling forever (it won't time out either). If I close it (just X, not kill it) and re-open it, things work fine again. Most of the time. Sometimes I have to do it twice. Any idea what that would be?
