THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

nope. spend $300 and get the ones i have from BJ's/costco

it really depends on the type of snow, but around here, itll build up no matter what if its a wet snow anyways. only during heavy storms will i go out and check the roof and give it a whack to make all the snow fall off.

go to ocean state job lot and buy a $40 tarp thatll cover it too, itll do a better job of keeping the UV rays from breaking down the actual tent materail.

I agree on all counts  The one in our yard is the BJ's one, and as you know Colin, it holds plenty of junk :sunshine: I agree that the extra tarp is a good idea

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And, this morning Keith came and helped me with the Altima (thanks again :)) and holy crap did stuff go together way easier than getting it apart. I'll probably finish it up tonight, tomorrow morning at the latest (knock on wood)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Edit: God damn they had to put that thing in the most inconvenient place possible. off to get some extensions.

you'll need them anyways if you're messing around with your transmission, so its a worthy purchase.

and speaking of transmissions, i had the afternoon off today (GASP) since we were done with the lesson dealing with chemicals at the warehouse early so i drove up and grabbed one. i paid $300 for the thing, but it was already pulled, only has ~55K miles on it and i have a year warranty. warranties on junkyard parts are RARE.

and i might even have tomorrow off too! it all depends on when they drive the big sand containers up to location to get them started to load up. mmmm i'm enjoying ANY time off, and the fact I got to go to the bars last night and very well might again tonight.... its amazing!

and i'm off to tractor supply to get some snazzy hardware and a bit of steel, gonna fire up the welder for the first time while in PA, and try to whip up a "nutstrip" for the inside of the framerail for my transmission crossmember with the XXXXed up bolts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So plus side of tonight thus far: she's running again, it does appear that it was the CPS that had gone bad.

Down side: she now has a horrible sounding tick of some sort. No clue what it is :( Haven't gone for a drive yet cause I don't want to damage anything. Anyone going to be in the area this wkend and care to give it a listen and see if you got any ideas? Or does anyone have any ideas off the top of their head right now? Going to go check codes again in a few min (forgot to do it while I was out there)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's a Jeep Thing.

FIRI.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damn, for some reason I wasn't expecting a CPS to cost $70.

Edit: I wish I Could find my good haynes that still has the glossary (think it's in storage with my DMM). Time to go look for the CPS. I have an idea where it is but never had to pull it yet so not exactly sure

Thats why I have 5 in a drawer in my workshop. Unfortuntely they are not the same on the tranny I have meow. (32RH) I also found out that with the 1" lift mounts I cannot remove it from the tranny. I will soon be customizing the firewall.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Normally Iwould if it started slowly over time, but the fact it went from running great to making this noise concerns me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm about ready to do an ax15 swap just so I never have to deal with a xxxxing dipstick tube again :smsoap::smsoap::smsoap::smsoap:

Aside from the upstream o2 I am nearly ready to rock and roll though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So i went out, checked oil and it was a bit low (idk when I lost oil, doesn't seem to be burning any and I haven't seen any oil spots anywhere I park:dunno:), added a quart or 2 fired her back up, still ticking like a time bomb, found the rev limiter a couple times... and shes quieted down a bit

I do have to keep an eye on it though, the engine bay was smoking quite a bit after running for a little while. Might be that some oil dripped onto the exhaust, I haven't re-mastered pouring a full 5 qt jug into the Jeep w/o a funnel yet. Maybe going for a test drive later tonight to see how she sounds after 15-20 min of driving. This time I will stay within a few miles of my house so AAA is free if needed:D

I have been keeping my eyes open on CL for a NV4500. Figure if I get lucky and find one cheap (yeah right ) before I call the JY for an AX-15 I may have to convince myself to place an order with advance adaptors for the kit to swap in a NV4500 and D300 (I already have a good D300 lined up for $100 if I decide I want it).

I would get everything done that needs to be done before swapping while I am driving the AX-15 and then spend a weekend swapping transmissions, ideally get everything done in that wkend and have the XJ back on the road by Sunday night. It would be super nice to have the 4500 even just for highway driving, get me down a bit from 3k RPMs

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got a six pack of motivation gonna finally put the d44 in tonight

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

damnit. just as i'm getting ready to go to the bars, i just got a call for a 6am yard time. it was looking like i'd be having at least some of the day off tomorrow, but now it looks like i'll be working allll day. at least i was able to snag that transmission this afternoon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There is a bug on my ceiling and I have a strong desire to take my paintball gun out and shoot it... though I'm sure that would be frowned upon by the homeowners..

And does anyone know.. using the AA kit how hard is it to shoehorn a NV4500 into an XJ? I have a line on one that might be pretty well priced that I could pick up this wkend and swap that in rather than spending $$ on another AX-15. Again it would be a few weeks of prep before doing the swap (gotta figure out driveshaft lengths, etc) but I figure that doing that will eliminate that as a possible weak point..

Kyle, awesome that you got one with that low mileage and warranty. I can get a warranty on any trans I pull at sams but I generally save money by not doing so (and therefore it's a trash trans )

I'm an oil change, air filter housing, some cooolant, some trans fluid, and an o2 sensor from having a running jeep again. After that, replacing some iffy brake line, finishing the floors, tossing in the shackles I got from colin, redoing my ghetto temp lca bracket fix from last september (oops not so temp I guess!) And it's wheeling time! I can't wait to see what will break first.

8.25's out, tomorrow AM the 44 finally goes in

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am turning into an old man... I woke up well before 9am on a Saturday with no alarm.

Think it's about time I finished the jeep and hit the JY

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

FASS 95gph lift pump installed.

My truck is now dying for a tuner.

I never realized how much it was starved for fuel until tonight.

i looove my tuner. no i just need to get in gear and do the 17* HPOP from adrenaline and build me and intercooler and call snow performance and get goodies. ill be looking at 400ish hp once all is said and done. then when its aurora turbo time ill be around 650-700.

I have a stock air box in my parts pile if you want.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks but I still have one, forgot to mention that, I just gotta bolt it back in. A jug of coolant is taking its space atm.
