THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm so tempted to skip a lot of steps to get my MJ wheeling...

No!! Bad Colin. Dont cut corners!! Well, unless you're making something with corners that need to be cut.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When my 4.0 dies, I'm going to be strongly motivated to drop coin on a 408.

I have NO IDEA what a 408 is but i've never heard of it and it sounds awesome and mysterious DO ITTTTTT

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i <3 red jeep's OBDI jsut for this purpose. Just piggyback some stuff on it and some fuel system mods

how about this. If ken volunteers to make it run in my jeep good (cause he's the resident obd2 and electrical wizard!) and cal still has it in a week or two, I'll very strongly consider it. I would right now, but the bank account says NOPE.

on second thought, nevermind. It's never that easy, and I've opened enough cans of worms with my Jeeps to know that this would just be another one

edit: I see you viewing the thread, ken... I wanna hear what you've got to say about making all this electrical junk work right! Could it realistically happen on a low budget? It's really besides the point anyways, because whoever got this kit would also have to deal with the heat of the supercharger in the already super hot XJ engine bay... either an IC or meth injection or something

don't, you want that sucker to last right?

Dammit I gotta go outside and make my Honcho run NOW

PS apparently I'm good at welding now that my welder is fixed

I only have a few things left to do on my 96.

I'm not gonna NOT volunteer, but bear in mind I've never worked on a supercharger setup, have never tuned an engine of any sort, etc. Find out what would be needed via the street and performance subforum and I'm all ears, I just have no idea where to start aside from that it appears to require installing a good amount of stuff between the stock ECU and the wiring harness from Bryson's turbo thread.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so tonights officially going to be the 2nd time that my Jeeps on a trailer. first when i got a flat in a bad place... now my Jeep just up and died on the highway on they way to anthonys. was cruising smooth then rpms just dropped to 0 and that was the end of it. fawk me

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no clue. was running smooth as ever at about 2800RPM then went to 0. I dropped the clutch in gear and IIRC it stayed at 0 (at that point watching RPMs was my last concern). I just hoped to get it to coast far enough to get past the part of the highway where there was no shoulder :gee: (I did). Thank god for Jeeps that can go over off ramp curbs at 15 mph.

So I did some digging before i lost light on the side of the highway. First thought was my fuel pump shit the bed finally but it has fuel pressure (not sure how much pressure though, just know I turned it over and checked the shrader (sp?) on the fuel rail and it had pressure behind it). Other than that I am all ears on people's thoughts. Will hopefully check for spark tomorrow if I can get someone to lend me a hand. It wasn't leaking any oil anywhere. idk if it overheated (coolent temp sensor doesn't seem to work too well) but it still didn't start after 45 min when I got it home (turns over fine though, no strange noises or anything). I literally just filled it up with fuel too though that makes me a bit suspicious of the fuel itself (but if it was bad gas I would have expected it to run rough before straight up dying).

edit: Awesomeness... I was on my way to anthonys for buff chicken pizza but the XJ died... I got home and what was waiting for me? Buffalo fawking chicken pizza :D:thumbup: I guess that makes the $48 tow a bit more bearable.
Questions for folks who know better than me:
If an engine dies for whatever reason (loses spark maybe?) but is still being turned over by the momentum of the vehicle (in gear) would it register on the tach?
If answer to Q1 was yes, what would cause it to not register a reading? Bad computer comes to mind, bad sensors, etc... any ideas to get me started?
And additional info: when I turn the key I still get the standard dash lights, break light comes on briefly, check engine flashes on briefly (I think that's normal), etc. Will check for codes later/tomorrow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not a bad guess... I keep a spare in my glovebox :laugh3:

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Scott. I agree with Keith about the cps being a possibility...
