Saw that thread earlier today... it looks like a neat conversion (and is very well engineered and constructed from the appearance), don't get me wrong, but I tend to agree. 1200 bucks for a brake/steering knuckle conversion setup that goes on a 30 is not something I would spring for.
EDIT: WJ steering can be pretty cheap if you don't mind a little ghetto...
* knuckles, calipers, caliper brackets, TREs for the tie rod and drag link - I estimate I spent 50 on these since I got those plus a whole pile of other stuff for 100 on all you can carry day.
* caliper spacers from JKS, $42
* drag link, tie rod from JKS, with jam nuts (2 sets), $210
* new pads and rotors from RockAuto, $120 (chose raybestos Akebono pads and Centric rotors)
* 16" rims required for Akebono calipers, but I already have those... even so, $250 for V5s
* new WJ lowers and WJ/TJ/XJ uppers for both sides on alljeep.com, $90 shipped
Comes out to $762 and that's assuming you don't already have rims to clear Akebono calipers.
EDIT: this is assuming you already have a set of 99.5-up XJ / ??-up TJ unit bearings.
