THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Upgrade to a 14 bolt so you can just unbolt the pinion bearing housing / third member :dunno:

I'd make a set of setup bearings really... at least that way you won't go through this *again*. Bearings aren't the most expensive thing in the world.

EDIT: which axle is this? If it's your 30 lemme find some bearings on rockauto/alljeep, I'm gonna need to do gear setup on one eventually, also I have non staked pinion nuts for d30s on hand if you want some for gear setup. Had to buy a bag of 10 at fastenal.

EDIT2: Timken pinion bearings for a 30 are ~12 for a set (inner and outer) on rockauto; I'm gonna order a pair of inners and an outer. Stupid question, the cup for the outer pinion bearing on a 30 isn't pressed in right? It's just sorta loosely fit in?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone ever notice that in the low cog thread in modified

half the rigs in there are 2" lifts and 30's?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I think it's people trying to make the fact that their rigs are small sound intentional.

Not that I have a problem with small rigs, just be honest about it :dunno:

In other news I am a dumbass and those prices were for bearing cups only. Once I hunt down the bearings and cones I'll probably grab an inner bearing/cone and an outer cup.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's kinda lame, though I'm usually pretty tame with rentals too. I'm more comfortable beating on a vehicle I own and know how to fix and where to get dirt cheap parts for, etc. I try not to be an annoying arse though :roflmao:

i think the thing is not so much the being tame with a rental, its more of him being a "limp dick XXXX sucker" to quote some of my more colorful coworkers regarding being a pussy. kid doesn't even drink coffee or swear, let alone drink or smoke

Fan clutch I can do up here, but I can't just pull a wheel and disassemble the passenger side knuckle on the streets, plus I don't have a jack.

You can totally do that work on the streets of boston. Do you not look at what's going on when you're driving around? Bigger jobs have been done.

just do a ton of cutting, I want to see how it does that way and you can always lift more afterwards (and then put even bigger tires on it to fill the cut out areas up)

sure, bricks and 2x4s and other stolen construction materials make excellent lift blocks, and PVC sewer pipe is good for building coil spacers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ah, that sucks. Definitely need setup bearings for that axle.

I hope you mean .007" backlash?
Oops yeah, forgot that second "0". I just got back from my Dad's work, I ground down teh bearing puller they have so it wouldn't eat my bearing and I was able to save it. I then took one of the old bearings with a muffed up cage and ground out the center for a set up bearing. Progress will continue tomorrow around 6:30 am. If anyone wants to go for a road trip I will reimburse your time and efforts with food and a mini fridge full of water and/or cool your beer.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Today does not feel like only Tuesday. I really don't want to prep for my 11AM call this morning.
