THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

holy christ, the unit bearing is FUBAR too. I'm not all that surprised, glad I got a whole shaft/joint/unit bearing for 30 bucks instead of screwing around with it. Also, I am glad I got a new front axle to rebuild... the knuckles are rusted quite heavily on this one :o

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

426 mustang?
As I said in an earlier post... the car I saw MAY BE a 426hemi Charger. Either that or it's a 383, possibly with aftermarket carbs.

Long story short I remember looking at it and the car has dual carbs but I don't remember if they were 4 barrel or 2. The guy who owns the land where it is right now said he THINKS they are 4... If they were dual 4, then it MAY BE a 67 charger with the 426 hemi; or it could be a 66-67 383 with aftermarket carbs. If they were dual 2 barrel, then the car is either 66 or 67 with the 383. If it is the 426 then that is one hell-of-a car and is one of my favorites (and rare as all hell). If it's the 383 then it's still nice but no-where near as hard to find. If it's a 440 upgraded to dual carbs then it is still nice but not as nice as the 426hemi. Really it could be any of the engiens with modified carbs I guess, but if it has dual 4s then that means it has at least a CHANCE of being the 426

Oh and I hate nissan. I am calling them on monday and asking what teh torque spec on several bolts is. The 2 bolts I mentioned earlier (that hold on the caliper mounting bracket) are 22mm... so not bad... but no matter how much impact or force I put on the damn things they wouldn't come loose. I hopefully will end up getting the dealership (the last people who worked on teh brakes) to break them free for me and torque them down to spec. I can tell theres a 99.9% chance they just hit them with he impact and called it a day. Now I can't get them off. Not to mention my front brakes seem fine... the rears are warped  shoulda checked that before I got the parts, now I gotta go back in and swap them out... at least I haven't paid for the brakes yet

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am really glad I replaced that whole inner+outer shaft, U-joint, and unit bearing as one piece... solved the intermittent grinding noise I was hearing on the highway as well! Old unit bearing must be really screwed up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I didn't get the brakes fixed today but I did rotate my tires and torque them down properly. I know it was discussed a while ago but I just got around to do re-seating the wheels (after NTB used the impact to put them on and probably torqued one lug down all the way first). The car rides smoother already, even just on back roads. I can still feel a bit of a pulse in the brake pedal... but even at non-highway speeds the car feels exponentially smoother. Actually I can feel the break pedal pulse alot more now, but I think that's largely because the overall ride is so much smoother. I kindof can't wait to go for a drive tomorrow and see how it is on the highway. I would go now, but now it's time for a soco and coke.

I'm still really pissed that Nissan over-torqued the bolts holding the caliper/pad mounting bracket on. I had a socket on the bolt (or a wrench) which I extended with another wrench to get better leverage.. wouldn't budge. I am picking up a set of metric impact sockets and may try to get them off again tomorrow or will go bitch out Nissan on Monday and have them loosen the bolts and re-torque them to proper specs. I think I may call up and ask what they torque the bolts to.. See if they even know the proper torque spec. I have to give Nissan credit on their facked up system, its good/bad all in one. A bracket that bolts on which holds the pads... then the caliper goes on that bracket. Great because it makes changing pads a breeze. Bad because changing rotors is a PITA compared to say on the Jeep where the whole caliper comes off with just 2 bolts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

but awesomer
I wasn't saying it was bad, just making a point :D

And yes... but if Pocahontas *comment deleted to avoid being a spoiler for those who haven't seen the film* then the two movies may have been on par with eachother.

If you can see it in Imax/3D I would... I saw it in a normal theater and kindof want to see it again. Now I do have to say that I left that movie thinking it was pretty good... but with the thought "I really don't want to see it again" though at the same time I left the movie saying "I really want to see that again but in 3D".. I had mixed feelings :laugh3:

So I hear. I might have to see it at some point.

demolition man is pretty good...

just discovered that a 32" spare tire and a breaker bar + 3 foot piece of iron pipe make a pretty good setup for removing the nut from a stub shaft... glad I don't live at home anymore, did it in my living room as usual.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just found a couple houses in taunton that I am going to look at tomorrow I think. Both need some work. One is a bigger house with less land, one is a smaller house with more land, I think I would prefer smaller house w/ land.

And I have been kicking back soco & cokes for a while now, watching stand up... I just keep thinking of the Jeep and how I have dropped just enough money into it now that it is at a point where it is just close enough to being done... yet it isn't functional at all and just sits in one place  I am kindof starting to think that doing a 9"/HP44 full width rig would have been cheaper and easier than trying to stay stock width with a 9" and HP44. I am starting to think I could completely remove my front/rear fenders and flare them out... try to keep stock looking lines but make them 2" wider per side... run some full width (65" WMS-WMS) axles. Then I could have a full width & 'street legal' Jeep.

It has become even more tempting now that I found a 9"/HP44 set for pretty damn cheap... I think I would officially be shot if I showed up at my house with 2 more axles. :laugh3:
