stanislaus is also coming under fire:

Yeah i was talking to a buddy in galt last night and he said he and an entire group of 10+ rigs got a ticket off cabbage patch/hwy 4 for snow wheeling on a county road. I guess the first guy to hit the red and blue was handcuffed becuase his quad came back stolen over some family BS... they're cracking down hard, sucks big time.

Wow really? Thats nuts man. I know you cant snow wheel on a dirt road, only on the paved road, if cabbage patch is all dirt then there you go. It contributes to erosion that makes drainage and waterways all fubar etc. Quad came back stolen and he got handcuffed? that is terribly crappy.

what do you mean the first guy to hit the red and blue? like he punched him?

red and blue lights. sirens...cop lights.

cabbage patch road is paved but i thik they were on a numbered county road off the cabbage patch. not sure if it was paved.

wow. really. that is messed up man.

The entire north side of HWY 4 up there (black springs area) is closed during the winter, paved or not. Anytime you want to go snow wheeling you HAVE to check the MVUM maps for the particular forest you are going to be in on the forest website. The maps tell you every road that is legal to drive on with any type of vehicle during the winter season. I cant stress this enough as it is the only way to keep the greenies off our backs. Unfortunately the forest service says it is our responsibility to check the maps as they dont have the resources to put up signage, and yes they are checking, and will ticket you, as you now know. The website can be confusing so make sure you are looking at the Motor Vehicle Use Maps. It will be a map/maps in PDF form of the entire forest, not a list of open or closed roads on a page on the website. You can also get a paper MVUM at any of the ranger stations.

I know thats why I am posting this, its quite scary. Thats my biggest fear is that they start hitting every national forest.
