...sorry...another build thread...

Probably a year . So far so good.

Ok June 6-7 niagra rim.. Sounds gravy

Ya I'd like to spen a lotta time at swamp lake maybe that Friday through Monday. Leave Thursday night camp near the trailhead.

I like that idea. I might only be able to pull of friday through sunday though, leave thurs night. Ill see what I can do.
the June 6th niagara is not 100% right now, trying to get out of a little cousins graduation and thats my GF and I anniversary. Just need to sweet talk her and send a card to the other.

also, started putting the front back together, and realized I don't need the a/c anymore, ill never put it back together now that I've gutted the condenser, so i ripped out all the a/c hoses and compressor and relocated my alternator.

used the old stock bracket on the back of it

drilled out the plate and then ran another bolt all the watt through. the thing is crazy solid now.

now I just need to put the front end back on and get the PS cooler in, and order a new shorter belt + 2 trail spares and get on bracing the UCA mount and just getting the tranny skid on.

the jeep kind of sucks going uphill on hot days for long periods of time. it definitely got way better from my old CSF brass 3 core thats for sure. I am pretty sure removing the condenser will be the last piece . the condenser is so messed up and flattened out that I think it was blocking flow to the radiator. I am hoping pulling it and the a.c compressor help it run a tad cooler.

thats another reason I plan to pull the head and do the head gasket, valve job , port the head, and probably a new cam.

for the renix alternator relocation, i pretty much followed this thread and then did a few things differently.

Let me know how that head work and new cam works out. I wouldn't mine giving my old RENIX a little bit more oomph.

its probably further out on the timeline. But I do have 2 spare renix heads now, so I will get them both magnafluxxed for cracks and then start porting the best one, then take it in for a valve job. once thats all good then ill have to find a spare weekend or 2 to make sure I can do it all in between runs.

so the guy in the write up was dead on. its a 77" belt that works perfect. I cut up an old belt and measured like 72.5, and it was way too short. Anyone doing this in the renix can pretty much start with a 77" belt and probably be good to go. All in all I have about 70$ into the mod, 40$ to evacuate the system, and 30$ for 2 belts (trail spare), and I was going to evacuate the system anyway.

ordered the last 3 77" gator backs on clearance on rock auto for 4$ each!

Easiest work night on the rig after regular work in weeks! Calling it done for at least a month.

so after reading about more than a few folks recently ripping off track bar and 3rd link mounts, I beefed mine up a bit last night.

little nubbins on the back of the track bar mount :

More nubbins, this time on the bottom of the 3rd link mount, and the diagonal piece to the right, tied into the 3rd link mount and the track bar mount

piece of 3/16s 3x3 angle chopped up to tie the trackbar and 3rd link mount together even better:

this pic sucks, but I plated the underside of the floor with 1/4" plate, welded it to the long running mount for the UCA frame side mount along the entire thing, and then added a big gusset to the actual mount back to the plate. For the plate to the floor, its held up with 20 3/16ths rivets(didn't want to punch through floor with weld and catch carpet on fire) and then welded about 10" along its length to the frame side plate. also added one more through frame grade 8 7/16th bolt to the inner frame side part of the mount. it now has like 7 or 8 of them.

added a limit strap on the pass side to try not to max out the hiems on that side

Its heavy, but It needs more bolts at the Xmember side. so far , I don't like it too much because its not solid like the tcase skid. I need to add 2 mounts, one on each side.

cool . we need to start setting some dates.

I am thinking DV/SR/Boards crossing the weekend of june 7th. run up to SR friday night after work, wheel in, camp for the night. run it out in the morning to DV, run that back, and drive down to boards for the night on saturday. then head home sunday. or do that all in reverse and camp at SR on sat night. I dunno.

then from there lets plan a hell hole and swamp lake trip.

con, we can do a friday night run into spider, and chill for the day sat and head out sunday morning pretty much any weekend.

My bud has a cabin up 108 in pinecrest. Lots of sweet trails but nothin too extreme that I've found or heard of.
So game for dv/sr/boards

Oh and btw just go to a scrap metal recycling place. Hop on the scale and weigh in free.99
