...sorry...another build thread...

Sorry to hear it is giving you so much trouble. This is way beyond my skills to figure out.

What is your toe setting? On my old waggy on 39.5" iroks a 1/4-1/2" of toe out was the only thing that worked. Until I added the hydraulic assist, it acts like a stabilizer on roids and caster and toe almost didn't matter with it on.

Yah I've been looking into assist, thats coming soon. For now the stabilizer masks it, but without a stabilizer its shitty.
I just set the toe to 0 last night and still had it-no stabilizer on. I think Ill try 1/4" out then 1/2" out, then just get used to rolling with a stabilizer. I think the hydro assist will be nice, probably be cheaper than new tires at the moment, although ill be considering new tires soon enough.

Some Fail Wheel Drive vehicles run toe-out, as the wheels get pulled in under accel and can cause wear.
But, with a vehicle with LARGE tires, if may or may not work.

Jon, just get some nice 35's!

Toe out helped my jeep a lot too during my death wobble days. I think I was about 3/8" toe out.

If toe out is getting rid of death wobble, then your issue is in the trackbar or drag link/steering box.

throw a gopro on the bottom of your front bumper pointing at your front axle and see exactly where the movement is. worked for me.

Please explain your logic. I'm curious.

Honestly, I can't.

the physics of how toe-in affects the harmonics of the trackbar/draglink were explained to me once, but I didn't understand it then, and I couldn't properly explain it now.

basically the tires being toed out not allowing the harmonic oscillation that results in death wobble to build.

all I can say is the guy who explained it to me and told me how to use toe-out to diagnose death wobble is one of the smartest people around and probably knows more about the suspension and steering involved in solid axle'd vehicles than anyone.

and it works. I have used the technique to diagnose worn out steering boxes, worn out Tie-rod ends, worn out trackbar joints, etc.

Nice, good to know rockclimber. Ill try some toe out to see how it does.
well since box is new, and the hiems only have 3 easy runs, I am thinking its either the tires, or maybe some shot hiems all around, which would make me less stoked on ruffstuff hiems if they only lasted 3 easier runs, I cant imagine putting it through some hell.

I also like the go pro idea, just need to get a go pro.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info!

just know that toe-out is pretty hard on tires, so don't do it for long.

if you still haven't had your tires balanced, I would do that before anything. it is the most common cause of death wobble.

I would find a set of stock rollers on cl and try them out. The speed at which the dw will start is going to be different but a good confirmation that tires would be the issue. I donated my spare set to Tim and the give away jeep or I'd have a set to pass your way. Maybe someone else has a stockish set they could let you borrow.

I on 5 on 5.5 anyway. I think ill get em balanced soon before I mess with toe out then. It looks like ill probably be ordering parts for hydro assist anyway. 140$ for everything is pretty good.

Are they balanced at all?
I run bbs and they work awesome!

Where did you find this. That seems like a heck of a deal. The ones I saw where around $200 for just the ram and hoses, and a grand for the kits, ouch!
