...sorry...another build thread...

thanks for the help wiring up the ARB last night Josh. good to know this time I didnt melt all the wiring into a big glob....
and stoked to get the spare dismounted and mounted onto a 5 on 5.5 rim. thing is coming along.

So i swapped out all of the injector pig tails last night since the old ones were loose as heck and I was guessing maybe the injectors didnt like it. Well the rig just pulls harder and idles better. so far no more idling at 300. more like 700. Also reset the TPS adjustments. who would have thought. I am digging it. Of course I still need to take it out. Probably going to hit DV/SR after Moab, or maybe surprise reno run, havent decided yet.

turbo, ill let you know when i come up next, el dorado trail sounds so awesome man!

Thanks for the Mj ! thing is awesome. already tore into it a bit. TPS was adjusted way off, like 5% of input voltage instead of 17%. fixed that. way better throttle response and no more crazy high surges at startup. Air filter was completly soaked in oil . I have never seen an air filter this bad. And ive seen some terrible ones on part out rigs. Slapped a spare air filter in there. cleaned all sensor connections, fixed 4 or 5 broken vacuum lines , front and rear shocks are toast. Slapping some 5100s up front and 5150s in the rear that I have lying around. Next is full tune up -plugs/cap/rotor/wires/clean TB/o2 sensor/ clean grounds/add more grounds/change al fluids/fix ecxhaust manifold (all washers are on backwards, probably cracked due to bad motor mounts), swap out dead motor mounts, slap a spare roll bar in the rear bed, weld up the track bar mount , weld up some LCA skids, and slap the t case linkage on, and call the thing done - other than a front lockright eventually.

I am also getting a honda trail 90 ...

Wow Jon sounds like you are ready to roll soon. Just in time for the snow season.

Good to hear from you Skipper how are you feeling ? I heard you where under the weather? hows the rig? it was a blast wheeling with you in MOAB!

Yes I was very sick the last night. It seems like I caught a flu bug that hit me about midnight.
Thanks for all the help. The rig did great at Moab and surprised even Lisa. I am hoping that she is getting the XJ bug that but we will see. We had so much fun wheeling with you and Josh and everyone there in Moab. It so far is my most favorite place to wheel.
Hope to see you on the trail soon.

Yes I hope we can wheel together soon, thats for sure. I have to say MOAB is my new favorite place to wheel. too bad its so far away

Sent the comanche off with a buddy since its technically his now, he is buying it off me on payments, but I get access to it anytime I need it and get to use it for hailing around my trial 90. Before it went, we Changed front/rear gear oil, tcase fluid, installed Froelich t case linkage, swapped out the vacuum harness for a new one, swapped some good 5100s in the front, changed out both of the shot motor mounts, changed oil, changed throttle body and TPS, EGR tube was off, which is weird, so I swapped that, new plugs/plugwires/cap/o2 sensor, and rotor, sea foamed the intake, sea foam in gas, added acetone in the gas, coolant was over a gallon low, took over a gallon to get it right, changed Power steering fluid too. Comanche seems to be in great shape now.

BTW for anyone considering a 78-79 bronco HP44 swap, they are 65" wide. the XJ is 61.
I went from 3.75" BS to 4" BS with the new rims, that put me at 3.5" wider than the 30 with 3.75" BS. 1.75" per side. I also went from deadlocked rims to regular 15x8s, so I am also speculating that I gained 1/4" per side by not stretching the tire as wide as well but thats just speculation.

If I had the option, I would have ran 16 or 17" wheels/tires and gone with 4.5" back spacing, that would have sucked it in another 1" overall, to only 1.25 net width gain per side. The 15s wont clear the knuckle with the 7/8" hiems if I went any deeper than 4", you can see it when you mock it up

plan for next year is get a built LP 35 spline rear 9" housing from rawkhaus and sell the hi9 rear third and go 5.13s front and rear, then sell the iroks and go to some 35" MTRs. Between the deeper gearing and smaller tires I should get a ton of power back on the mountain passes and probably get better MPG in the mountains and still be very well built.

I like the real 9" plan. why not snag a ruffstuff housing to go with it that has matching width? they'll be able to hook you up with one for pretty cheap. well worth it just need new shafts

btw where is everyone hiding all their sweet moab pics? I didn't see anything in the naxja events section

There are tons and tons of pics all over the Moab event forum

Oh. Ill try to post up what I have real soon in here in the chapter then.

ya if you want to go deeper than 4" BS and want to run 7/8" hiems or bigger then youll need to run rims bigegr than 15". Im not even sure if 16s would clear at that point. I am only referring to cheap black steelies like cragar soft 8s not aluminum wheels.

What year axle are you running? 78-79 had cast radius arm wedges. I was under the impression you were running a 77 or a little earlier because you have no cast in the axle tubes?

I think the bronco axle pumpkin location is farther over toward the passenger side than the Ford and makes the front drive shaft a little tricky to not hit the oil pan. I am not 100% about this but when I was doing my 44 swap I thought I remember reading that???
