...sorry...another build thread...

got the rear iroks mounted onto the 5 on 5.5 rims tonight. now its just a matter of hammering out out the studs and putting it all back together. Also noticed the ebrake is pretty well done for, so ill slap in new ebrake shoes.

these 35 spline shafts are massive

prothanes are going on the front as bump stops, an add a leaf in the back, a new driver side hub, grease the lockouts, new pass side spindle, and new rotors (summit cross drilled and slotted) and wagner performance pads, drill rotors to 5 on 5.5, and figure out the easiest way to make my tire carrier bumper go from 5 on 4.5 to 5 on 5.5. pickup a spare irok, get it mounted on the rim I just ordered, and set up limit straps
also some more welding here and there, build a tranny skid, and some other random stuff like slap on my waggy pitman arm, relocate frame side trackbar, get drag link dialed, and after reading Kevs thread probably go by a few sets of 7/8x7/8 hiems for spares... and order some full circle clips too.

slapped some new e brake shoes in the rear, old ones were toast. Havent had a ebrake in like 3+ years. I plan on getting this one going next.

Then next I need to go to my uncles house, pop off his DSs and swap out U joints and pop the tcase inspection cover and try to figure out what is going on...

pulled apart rear leaves(rusts 3.5" packs been on there for probably 12 years+?) already had thrown 2 stock leaves in there previously, now added a XJ main and cut the eyes off the rustys mains. they are 8 leaf packs now.

went through 2 of these

new shackle angle sucks bad. I plan to move the shackle forward and down around 2"
leaves are all painted with a few coats of cheap spray paint and then greased em up real good.
also noticed i never greaesd the shackles and there was a lot of slop in the frame side shackle mount, so after hitting the zerk this time they were solid.
new center pins are good old ones were bent to shit. also the rustys leaves bushings were pretty fubar, so the new XJ mains have good bushings...

while I was throwin the shocks on I noticed I had about 7.25" of up travel and 3.25" of down travel left in the shocks. no bueno. So i grabbed the grinder real quick and cut em down and turned em around and burned em in real quick. Now I have 5.5 down travel and 5" of up travel. Thats alot better.

Also driver side rear upper shock bushing was in pieces. Slapped a new one in from my giant box of bushings ive collected over the years.

slapped a waggy pitman arm on too real quick. It is "fatter" than the XJ arm, and doesnt seem to go as far up the splines.

hoping now, after cutting down the front coils 1" and raising the rear 1/2" with an extra main leaf( and hopefully increasing the spring rate too, so it wont be as prone to dropping as much in the rear anyway) that I should be alot better off fully loaded for now on. trying to reverse the rake as cheap as possible.

still havent wired up the ARB.
next is addressing the front bump stop issues and putting a RS 5 on 5.5 plate for the rear tire carrier.

Just PM'd you

Everyone is wheeling but me. Still need to wire the damn ARB.
started front bump stops setup the other day.

So the new Hub I grabbed for the driver side is a little too tight on the holes for the wheel studs. Its about 4 thousands smaller than the old hubs, and I cant get a stud through it at all, So I am thinking about drilling it out a little, but that seems like a bad idea too.

new rotors and pads, pass side lockout was fubar for some reason, not broken, but wouldnt spin, just stayed in the middle.

put together a real quick double shear strap for the stacked hiem steering.

welded up the RS tire carrier plate and some 1/2" fine thread bolts.

replaced pass side splindle, spindle retaining nuts, and lug nuts

welded up some plate for the pro thanes and slapped some paint on everything:

also had to remove the trackbar cross brace to clear the track bar. evetually make a new one.

Ill bring it over for sure . Did you get the rear end back? Ill help swap it in and wire up the thing, let me know when you pick it up.
Right now having front driver side hub issues. Got a new hub, wagner from rock auto. I cant get the lug studs to sledge hammer into the new hub. THe pass side on the old hub was easy. Hoping to get it all figured out tonight.

looks like dog crap, but its all pieced together around the bumper and the track bar mount.

plated the driver side frame with 1/4"

didnt finish it

underside of the frame by the box is plated to, need to finish running plate to the RS stiffeners, and the rest of the underside of the frame.

used 4 bolts into the under side of the frame, and more through frame bolts as well were added here and there.

slapped on driver side rotor.
just need to test drive it and then hook up the ARB, and soon enough do some more welding and plating.

couple years ago:
35s, hi9 rear, 4.88s, tnt long arms and belly, front locker, chromos, bumpers and sliders

adn this pic is already in the thread but now:
36s, front 44, cage, winch, homebrew 3 link, and lots of frame plating.

Ya the fenders where cool. Ill build some better tube fenders eventually.

the fenders would have been ruined now. I plan on re creating them with steel and tube one of these days.

def should have kept the fenders. Now if you would just wheel the damn thing.

even with it down for like almost like 5 months + (a bunch earlier in the year to get the grizzly among other things installed and other crap, then more for the 44 swap) months ive still managed to do like 6 runs, and then there is all the wheeling in MOAB....which isnt bad considering. I also plan to do alot in the 2 weekends of october I am actually in town, and some here and there stuff in november, then snow runs and snow camping late november though feb . I missed around 7+ good trail runs this year though

No I agree though. It sucks to be building your rig up in the middle of wheeling season. I usually do that between snow runs in the winter months...
