...sorry...another build thread...

yah my goal is to use spring plates for everythign possible . i had like over 20 of them at one point. they have dwindled down after welding them for LCA skids for numerous rigs and stuff like that. i was surprised they worked so well for the tire carrier LOL

drove around with the new tranny switch and the new TC lockup switch . kinda nice to sometimes be able to control 1,2,3,4 in the aw4 and the TC. now i can lock it in second if need be and control shifting manually, or just let the TCU do all the work.

Did you get a rail shifter? I have one sitting in my shop that my buddy won at the sierrafest raffle. I know most folks are running them with 4-1s but didn't know if it would be beneficial for a stocker 231. I was thinking of selling or trading it for other needed parts.

no i didnt use a rail shifter just some switches.
i dont see a need for one. i can slam it in reverse when i start to tip over and get out of it easily.

i just used a 3 pole switch for the manual shifting
1. TCU on
2. TCU off solenoid 2 off( can use just first in 1-2, just 3rd in 3rd, just OD in OD)
3. solenoid 2 on (gives power to solenoid 2 thus locking up second gear just 2nd in 1-2)

then i ran a rocker switch and cut the torque converter out of the TCU and just lock up the TC when needed. i was getting crazy erratic shifting and cutting the TC out of the TCU seemed to fix that(along with replacing the TPS, but the TPS didnt fix all of it)

i also moved the MAT sensor to the intake tube, and notched out the cps and kicked it over to the pass side, added a stock late eighties range rover intake with a brand new K&N cone sorta filter that i had lying around as well as throwing cleaned ford 19lb injectors in recently.
changed the tranny fluid too and added a second tranny cooler too .

terrance, do you still need a PS pump and some other stuff?
i got a bunch of stuff here for you if you want it.

had a rustys throttle body spacer lying around from a part out and threw it on.
i really like controlling the TC with a switch too, its very nice. fixed all the erratic TC lock/unlock on the freeway by taking it out of the TCU completely.

started messing with e brake lines today, plan to hook up an ebrake. have the 9" cables that use the 8.8 rotors etc and then have the XJ cables. plan on making a new mount that goes on the adjusting rod to make these work.

If you have an 8.8 rotor hat and e-brake setup the factory cables work pretty well. I am going to try to make it up your way by Thursday or Friday (finally) with the Cherokee. I can show you what I did.

i cant wait to see that jeep Tim!

this article says that it increases the flow from 335cfms to 505cfms.
definetley noticing better throttle response.
also noticed that the TPS input voltage went up to around 4.84 now. was 4.69 then added a jumper ground and got it up to 4.74. i havent checked it since cutting the TC out of the TCU, i wonder how that affected it and made the voltage go up ? weird but nice. re adjusted the TPS and TV cable during install.

Hey Rev, did you get your front 44 done yet? Mine is sitting in my shop pretty much done. Waiting on funds for the rear swap.

Yes, Need a weekend to put it in.

grabbed a tubing notcher and bender from a good friend on here and now pricing out some DOM. ive gotten it down to 2.84 a ft locally after haggling around. 1.5" .120 wall.
ill need some 1.25 .120 for slugs too.

ABC was out and metal craft warehouse only had 3 18 footers. thats fine since thats all i wanted really to spend this week. ill grab another 60 or 80 ft when ABC gets it back in stock then ill see where that puts me.
i also bought 7 ft of .095 wall HREW 1.25 wall tube for slugs. the DOM 1.25 did not want to seem to fit in the 1.5, but the 1.25 HREW did. i am not anticipating many slugs though.

i talked ABC down to 2.98 a ft , but i was able to talk metal craft warehouse down to 2.84 for today only a foot today only just to get one more sale in before they close for the weekend.

gonna grab some more tube and start the cage this weekend hopefully. anyone want to come by and watch me screw up some tube and learn the hard way how to build a hybrid roll cage?

also ive decided that next year in January i plan to grab a 4 spd atlas, a built hp44 or 60 or 9" front build, and some 37s. this year is get the hp30 done with cryd and heat treated gears, trussed like crazy, get the cage and ladder bar done, rear shackle drop box, put the front 5.5" coils back on, and get the hp30 done and under the XJ. And one of those badass tig welded 3 core ebay radiators. sometime this summer to winter i want to build a tail gate too.
