Picked up a 99 Cherokee sport this week. Mainly going to use it for snow trips and errands. I don't plan on lifting it. It has 154,000 miles, pretty clean, and runs cherry besides a mysterious exhaust leak(tightened a few header bolts and got smaller, still there though). It also has the oil filter adapter leak that should be a quick fix and the muffler has seen better days. it has 15x8s up front and 15x10s in back, will probably put 8s in back later on. ill get some better pics later. I plan on running duratracs, if they come in 30's, or some other aggressive all terrain tire. I want to build a roof rack and some kind of storage setup in the trunk area, and possibly bumpers and lights.. we'll see. I'd like to keep this as a street jeep that is actually driveable long distances.

Nice rig man. I eventually want a clean stocker some day again

Sweet deal! Looks real clean dude
Where'd you pick it up at? Craigslist?

Thanks, yeah craigslist. Just drove it 3.5 hours fully loaded to the snow. Worked pretty well, but could use a little more power. Intake, header, and 180 tstat going in soon. Also shocks are original and suck. I wonder if I can fit 31/10.5 on here.. it has 30/9.5 right now

Just got back from a ~500 mile trip to boreal. I've created a list of things needed to make the trip better next time.

new shocks- looking at rough country's 2.0 shocks, highest bang for buck IMO
new bushings- sway bar, uppers on axle.
build lightweight lo-pro roof rack.
new speakers.
alignment.
rear hatch props.
rear tire carrier-like detours back bone.
APN header/downpipe mod
some sort of better performing air intake.
better headlights.
good performing, yet quiet(I must be getting old), muffler.

I also have a 4x6 sheet of nice stainless about a 1/16th thick. thinking of fabbing up a heat shield to tuck under the intake manifold, and other ideas..

Any suggestions on parts listed above would be great.

oh and I found out it has LS in back. Ask me how I know, ha

I have a feeling you might get some feedback about running rough country shocks. Are those things monotubes? If they are cheap enough and monotubes with a Naxja discount might be worth running(if you chat rough country or call them they still give a pretty decent naxja discount) .

Shock info. 180 shipped for all 4. My buddy has them on a lifted wj and they work great.

after some research, looks like the rc shocks might have some reliability issues. I'm going to throw some 5100s up front as I've had them before.

Something to think about, right meow Carquest has a 40$ rebate on a set of 4 KYB shocks. Through the end of the year. They sell both, OE replacement twin tube and monotubes.
5100s are a good choice, but it may be cheaper to get other replacements.
As far as 31's go, I would do WJ lowers, and adjust your steering stops for rubbing in the front. Honestly, Your mileage will drop when stepping up to 31's. I would just go with 235/75's or 30/9.5s

Already bought the bilsteins but thanks for the heads up, and yeah I've decided to stick to the 30s

Bilsteins had to be returned due to wrong length. ended up ordering the rough country 2.0s for $180 for all 4, they are probably still 100x better than the original shocks on there right now. They have a lifetime warranty and this jeep will be mainly a pavement pounder. I should be ok. Also called them up to talk about the difference between their shocks. sounds like they have made improvements recently to their 2.0s.. lets see how they hold up. I am trying to save money to buy a house next year, so id like to keep this as low budget as possible..

Here is a list of things I am looking to buy:

front bumper non-winch with good tow points. no tube.
rear bumper-frame tie-ins/hitch, tire carrier.
air intake. whatever works.
muffler-stock size- not super loud.
(2) 15x8 black fake beadlock steel wheels. or 4 black 15x8 steel rims ,if cheap enough.
black hood with good paint. my hood paint is cracking away.
bushing kits- everything.
better than stock headlights.
Skids.
anything expedition related.

found a slight bend in a lower control arm and the bushings on both sides have seen better days. Sooooo I ordered a set of Ruffstuff new lower single flex control arms. They seem pretty beef.

With the 20% discount, I couldn't not buy them.

haven't seen those RS arms yet. thats pretty cool. cant find it anywhere on the RS site. never mind . just found it.

I just have this sitting in my garage waiting for me to do something with it. I will getting more of these every so often. high grade stainless used for installs of hospital equipment that wasn't needed. I'd say its about 40lbs and a little over 1/16th thick. I am thinking heat shields, interior rack, roof rack fold out, gas tank skid..

what would you guys do with it?
