When I bought my '05 crew cab,3500,dually,Cummins, 6 speed, I checked all the way from Houston Tx. to Vancouver Wa. Dave Smith motors can be beat fairly easily. I ended up buying right near here in Caldwell, Id. at Curt & Hal motors. They beat everyone. I gave 31k out the door. And as far as the fuel mileage, I get 16/17 in town and 18/21 on the highway. If I can keep it at 74mph it does well. You go 75 or over and mileage falls like a rock. And this thing is a beast. I thought my old '96 2500 Cummins/auto was a brute but, this thing pulls a 21,000 bachoe and trailer easy. I did put and exaust brake, cold air intake and straight pipe the muffler for a little added help. I haven't chipped it yet but, I may.
Drive it at 65 and your mileage will come up even more. Mine falls on its face mileage wise at 70.

my 06 2500 megacab 5.9 cummins auto 4x4 SLT that i bought used two months ago w/78k miles came with what appears to be a dealer installed exhaust brake...only put a couple hundred miles on it so i dont have good mileage numbers...but its fast! towed around town w/exhaust brake going and it stops like mad for a truck that weighs so much.

when i bought the truck there was an issue w/the tranny coming out of park hard. turns out it was a problem in the valve body. dealer paid to have the valve body replaced and i paid the extra to get a modified valve body...

mac 'leveling kit,35s, and bully dog 3 in my future' gyvr

So I finally found a 3500 I liked and was working on a deal with the dealer. The usual back and forth, then I didn't hear anything for a few days. No biggie, I figure it's fate telling me to wait until this summer.

So last night I was looking through Craigslist for Jeep parts and other miscellaneous stuff when I came across a 71 3/4 ton 4x4 LB Chevy. Cool, we had one of those when I was growing up. Little pricey, like most of the 67-72 Chevy trucks. But it has been restored to a certain extent.

I got nostalgic, Clark Griswald Christmas Vacation type moment, and started going through all of my old family photos that I scanned. Cool, there's our truck and the plate is visible. Wow, that looks like the same tag number as the one on Craigslist. I'm sure it's close, but there is no way it's the same truck. Call the owner and I'll be damned, it's the same tag number.

I'm still skeptical, so I decide to take the day off and drive out to Roseville to check it out. I know there were some aftermarket add-ons we put on it that would have been noticed and removed during the restoration. I start doing a walk around on it and holy crap, the hole for the police style search light was still there as are the mounts for the clearance lights and the holes below the dash where the trailer brake was and...

So long story short, we worked out a price and I'll be getting the truck we used to take on vacation every year from three until sixteen as well as the truck I learned to drive in back after not seeing it for some twenty odd years. The funny thing is the Dodge dealer left three messages on my home line saying they were ready to accept my offer.

Out of curuosity, what was your offer? The dealer that I was shopping is now running a radio ad about an $11,500 discount (they offered me $9500) AND zero % interst financing.

It's getting hard to walk away from about $30K and zero percent.

I offered them $14K off of the MSRP, but I had my own financing set up going in. I don't think they'll go that low with the 0%, but it never hurts to try.

Buy it dude...you know you want it...You NNEEEDDD that truck man.

Peer pressure...peer pressure.

Yeah, and now hearing that they actually accepted an offer $14K less than MSRP just add to the problem.

Oh well, I'm strong- no truck till spring....no truck till spring.....no truck till spring.

So that's what, 4 months and 21 days or so?

You know you want it, just cave and give in to the dark side :D
