A couple of friends of mine asked if I wanted to tag along on a Rubicon trip they were putting together. I figured I would give it a shot to see if I could make it in my stockish jeep on bald 31's, with just lockers on both ends.

All in all we had a great trip, the only carnage was a trailer tire and flooding on the 395 on the way home.

My buddies stock toyota on 33's (his wife is driving in the pic):

We had an absolute blast, trail was not that crowded since it was the weekend before the Jamboree. Stayed at Buck Saturday night and was fortunate to take in this view.

All in all it was a great trip. Honestly, don't let little to no lift and small tires deter you from running a trail. Granted I had lockers f/r, but if you willing, grab a couple of friends or acquaintances on NAXJA and go out and see what your rig is capable of.

You guys just do a quick 2 day trip?

It was a 4 day trip, and after doing it as a 2 ish day trip before, I would much rather do it in 4. One day to drive up, run the trail in 2 days, then drive home on the 4th day. The last time we did it, we drove all night on a Friday, ran the trail pretty quickly to get done Sunday afternoon and then got home late Sunday night.

Nice, glad you got out there, def an awesome trip. I did it back in the day with one locker and 33's.

Thanks bud! Looking forward to wheeling with you in the future if you are free. It was definitely fun trying it in a less capable set up than I have been running in the past.

Julio, I still have my other jeep. I used this jeep because it has doors/windows and could haul more stuff. I am still working to get my other jeep back together after I hydrolocked the old motor.

What day did you come back? 395 was flooded at Coso Junction on Sunday afternoon.

Parker I'm following you up next time even if you don't invite me! We just canceled our trip planned for August, Nebel Jr. won't have his sami ready. Tell Yota he needs a second rig. Jon has two, you have two....he needs a second.

NO - one is enough
