hmmm, maybe I'll skip the 'con part then since I'm working Friday and meet you at Fordyce. Aren't the water levels at Fordyce still going to be quite high? I know a few old posts give links to the flow levels. I'll try to find them.

EDIT: http://www.dreamflows.com/flows-canv.html#California_Sierra_West_Slope

Well maybe we can build a raft or is it possible to run to the water crossing and then back?

Actually I believe the current plan is to finsh the Con on Sat and run Fordyce on Sunday.

It would be fun to run both, but I really think we will have our hands full with the Rubicon. I'd be up for that, with a follow up run up Fordyce maybe 4th of July weekend, Saturday/Sunday. If we the trail early Friday and wheel all day Friday and Saturday, we should be done with the Con and be able to head over to the Fordyce trail. The end of the Rubicon trail and the start of the Fordyce trail are probably within an hour or so of each other and you will probably want to drive back West on I-80 anyways. I got about 2-1/2 hours into Fordyce about 3 weeks ago before a lot of really really build rigs sqeezed past our group and told us that the water levels were too high to cross so we headed back out of the trail with them. The trail gets fun about a mile or so into it, so it is very possible to run it awhile and then start heading back out the way you came, and then you can be back on I-80 Westbound in no time. The trail starts less than a mile or so after you get off of the Eagle Lakes Rd exit near Cisco Grove.

Nice pics Lee. Did you go with Brett? I know he wants to go really bad. I just got back from the Lost Coast trip. What size tires are you running & how much lift? Man I hate getting stuck in water. I did this weekend in my stock 98' grand cherokee and had water up to my seat cushions and had to climb out of my window. I now have some water in my tranny fluid enough to turn it pink. I'll have to drain that fluid and put in some fresh stuff. Maybe we can do Fordyce after the Rubicon run, like Sunday the 20th if we get an early start. Did you do the entire trail? How long did it take you? Any major obstacles/problems?

I went with some friends of mine. we had 8 or 9 rigs total. I'm on 35's and about 6" of lift
As far as problems and obstacles, we had 1 snapped driveline(Willys) on "driveline hill" a stripped pinion(Totota), busted starter (Samuri),Busted rag joint (Bronco).
As far as mine goes I had my front bumper ripped off ,busted tail light, bent tie rod, busted corner marker, hole in the rear deck lid, smashed gas tank skid, busted joint in the tilt wheel. Overall the damage was minimal

Nice pics Lee. What's up with all the damage? How hard is Fordyce? Harder/easier than the Rubicon? Man those are 2 great trails we live to close to here in Norcal. I'm from IL, so believe me that we are privledged. I hope to do this trail very soon, probably in early-mid July. Let's through a date out and try to see who can make it. Were you able to complete Fordyce in 1 day without camping out?

Wow, you have quite a list of broken things on your rig. Did you go up Driveline Hill? I bypassed it when I went with the stock tj & fairly stock cj-5. I might try it when my arb is hooked up with my dual lockers. Try going to pick n pull 1st before you get those parts new from somewhere. I meet a guy in Willits who has 5 xj's & 1 mj behind his "Rock Store." He has a huge Suburban on 36/14.50x16.5 Mickey Thompson Baja's in front of his shop as of yesterday. He got all those rigs for $400 as people just seem to give there old xj/mj's to him. He's a sort of magnet in the area I guess. I know his parts would work for you and be cheap. Give him a call if you are interested. I think his name was "Dave" (707)459-1206. He should sell you the stuff you need dirt cheap, he got them for free anyways. He had like 3 87+ 4.0L & 2 pre 87' I think & 1 mj that was 2 wheel drive.
