Nope, I sold that POS and bought a new set of wheels and even had money left over for an engagement ring. And I get even better mileage than a motorcycle. Here's a pic...

Cool, and after your xj is back on the road you can have fun with your bike on the trail/camp ground/whatever. Do you work close to home or do you really get a workout everyday?

I'm only 2.5 miles away... the crappy part is waking up at 5:30 to get there by 6:30.

I know it sucks now, I work about 18 miles away from work and with the traffic it takes me about 40-50 minutes or more. I work on the south side of Sac down Watt and Sunrise gets really packed. Heah you will have 1 heck of a rig soon. Just take it in little steps and you will get done and have some fun soon. Really try to make it out to the Rubicon run mid June o.k. This will be my 1st time on the con, I wanted to do it ever since I knew what it was. Hang in there bud. :looney:

The more the marrier. Have any of you guys been on the Rubicon yet? This will be my 1st time. I did the McKinney trail which is a few miles into the Rubicon trail from Tahoe, but it branches off before you get to any harder stuff. I did it in a 3" lift 95' grand cherokee so I wanted something fun, but didn't want to break anything, that was before I bought my 91' cherokee that already has alot of battle scars and is ready for some more. I'm going to head up and meet you guys after I get off of work Thursday. I'm thinking I could meet up with you guys around 8 p.m. or so at the Loon Lake campground. I will be driving a 2 door silver xj with 35" mtrs & about 8" of lift. It might be dark red/maroon as I have a gallon of smooth Durabak to out on it, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that before the trip. I have a few other more functional things to get done 1st, before I work on the ext body. See you guys there and have a safe trip coming from down south. Remi might be going a little slower with his 4.88 gears and 31". I have 4.88 gears and 33" tsl radials on my 94' wrangler with a 4.3L chevy vortec and 4l60e auto tranny and like the power. I'm around 3K rpms at 70-85 though. I have to watch it as I have around 10-12" of lift on it with only 33" tires and my sway bars & trac bars are off of it, but is had plenty of power.

Here are a few pictures of my Jeep so you know what to look for on Thursday night. They are from the Signal Peak run/Fordyce trail run I did last Sunday.

I'm the big guy, pulling on the little guy in the big picture. We got 2-1/2 hrs into the Fordyce trail before we head back out. We started the trail at 3 p.m. after we did the Signal Peak trail and headed back out before it got dark. From what I saw of the Fordyce trail, I really like it and want to run the entire trail. I know we will be very busy with the Rubicon trail, but for some reason we finish it early and people want, we can run the Fordyce trail in it's through or just part of it and head back on out. The Fordyce trail is right off of I-80 just 12-15 miles west of Truckee at the Eagle Lakes exit. We'll see how things go.

Nope, my first time also. Very excited.

Has anyone in our group done the Rubicon trail? It's not bad if we are all newbies to the trail, but it might be a little interesting. I hear there are some places that are not marked good/to not marked at all so hopefully we can stay on the trail. I have a few good maps. Does anyone have GPS? This might really be good to have. I know we will have fun either way.

I thought that at one point or another we had some veterans showing up :D but I lost count of people on page 5.

I think Billy is going, he knows the trail.

There are some veterans that should be ready hopefully, but if not, we might need to offer them a passenger seat. :roflmao: I'd like to have at least 1 person that's run the trail who owns an xj make the trip, but if not so be it. We will be o.k. we have maps, we are going in a big enough group (pack of wolves :eyes: ) and there are plenty of others on the trail besides us that we can get into, help, etc from. I talked to a person with a real built xj that is part of the Rubicon patrol this weekend. In addition to the white xj people have seen on thread, there is a green 94' on 35" bfg muds, snorkel, arbs, ford 8.8 with 4.56 gears, etc etc. He said that he has heard of people getting mugged on the trail. I guess the Pirates of the Rubicon are no joke, I'm not picking on the actual group by that name. But we have to be aware of our surroundings and stick together. Safety is in #'s.

There is very little in the way of trouble from people on the 'Con.

Bears are usually out in force at night, though. Especially by the Springs or Buck Island lake. Lock up your coolers at night.

Someone ought to bring a "noisemaker", if you know what I mean. ;)

I'm not worried. With such a nice trail, people might pass on these "stories" to keep the traffic down. I'm not going to let that keep me from going. Bring it on punk. :nono: So Rabbit's pretty fiesty huh? :twak:

I read that he is a martial arts instructor. Very impressive. We got some protection huh. :twak: I'm a big guy too and don't like getting po'd. :flamemad: Bring it on punk. :guitar:
I'm just kidding, we will have a nice rid and take in nature.

Cool, this trip is really getting off the ground and it looks like we will have a good group. Lee & Brett have both been on the Con. When are you guys expecting getting into camp Thursday evening? I'm coming after work after I change clothes and get my cherokee at home. So I'm expecting to be there right before dark from 7:30 to 8 at the Loon Lake camp ground. I'll be in a silver 2 door xj on 35's mtrs, we should be able to find each other, especiall because you "southerners" are coming up together in a pack! Pack of xj wolves, I love it! :guitar:
