Rubicon in June

If you're a NAXJA member and can only make one Rubicon run this summer, go on the big August run. If you can't take a week off, or can't wait that long, come run it with me in June.

I'll be hosting a Rubicon run for NAXJA members June 23-25. Further details will come out as we get closer, but now you can put this on your calendars.

Typical Sierra Chapter Rubicon requirements are:
One locker or two limited slips.
-31" tires
-Spare front axle shafts if you are running 260 joints.
-Spare rear shafts if you have a Dana 35 or a 27 spline 8.25.
-tow strap
-tow points front and rear
-T-case skid.
-Appropriate gearing for tire size. For example: 31's could run stock 3.55's, 33's should have at least 4.11's, 35's should have 4.56's. Low T-case gears can make up for diff gearing deficiencies.
-Spare tie rod and drag link if you are running 33's or larger and still have stock steering.

Stuff that is nice to have:
-If you care about body damage, get some rocker skids. The 'Con LOVES to bite XJ rockers when running smaller lifts/tires.

(list adapted/stolen from CRASH)

NAXJA required equipment:
1. Visably charged fire extinguisher(BC or ABC)
2. First aid kit
3. Adequate spare tire, jack, and lug wrench
4. Safety belts for driver and any current passenger(belts must be worn at all times while vehicle is moving!
5. Adequate attachment points in the front and rear of the vehicle
6. Snatch strap without any metal hooks
7. Secured battery(no bungee cords!)

CB radio is highly recommended.

Also, please make sure your junk doesn't suck.

I'm looking forward to getting back out on the rocks and hopefully seeing a lot of you to start off the rock season.

Do you consider the Integrated T-Case skid on the TNT y-link system adequate?

I am all over this run like a fat kid with candy! WooHoo!!

I am kinda glad i was forced to reup my membership now... being elected and all:angel:

Is the Rubi gonna be ready?

Sorry for my ignorance; but does it take three days to run the Rubicon? I will be camping in Sequoia the week after and might be able to come early so I am interested in this!

Glen

Rubicon can be run in a day barring any major failures and assuming you have properly setup rigs. But taking your time is alot more fun.

I've run the trail in 10 hours, with plenty of, uh, refreshment breaks.

The TnT skid is more than sufficient. At a 1/4" thick, it would be difficult to mash it on the standard trail. It would still be difficult to mash it on the optional parts as well (but I'll give it the old college try...).

The trail can be run in a day, but as mentioned, it's not as fun.

I may join in on this run if that doesn't interfere with our week up at Hume.

Thanks! I will keep an eye out for updates on this trip!

I don't think my XJ will make it more then a few miles, can I run this in a Non-XJ if my name is red? If not I totaly understand, but if so I will just go by myself that weekend and camp up wind from you all and eat lots of beens! :passgas:

Then I will sit in my camp spot and cry!

You can run with us Dave, but I would like it if you didn't talk to us, or get out when we stop. If you could not use your CB on the trail too, that would be good.

My dad said he might be able to come with me. That'd kick ass. :sunshine:

I'm thinking, because of all them Toyotas going towards the Springs, we should go in at Loon also. That way we wouldn't be going against them all day. And I want to run True Sluice again.

Don't forget, pack it in, pack it out. It's not too early to order more Wag Bags or other appropriate receptacles for this season.

Im hoping this will be my first run all the way through ..ive been up ther but not in my jeep and the people i were with werent fully equiped to run the whole trail....

the first time is always one to remember! this will be a good group to go with. Phil was stuck with just me his first time :laugh3: but my zip-tie and washer on the disconnect mod got him through 80% of the trail before he lost his front driveshaft bolts

:D
