Roush Creek Nov 7-8th

hmm... I wonder if a week worth of evenings is enough for me to get my new axles (assuming I get some) under my XJ...

You wont get that done in time for the trip, Kinda off topic:thumbdn:
Sorry about the sorta off topic, it's not as off topic as it looks :dunno: I'm hoping to get new axles (bolt-in, just need to clean em up) on the 31st, what I meant is that if I manage to find time to get them installed by the next weekend I'll be there. If not, my old axles are not geared well for my setup and too rusted for me to trust them with anything more than a back road.

I'm watching the race on the 7th and wheeling the 8th.
So are we

Well If I was closer, I would offer to help, It took me 4 hrs just to do my rear axle by myself, in a gravel appartment parking lot. Not fun, that and I could barley lift it at all.

Gravel's no fun... that sucks. Thanks for the consideration though, it is a heck of a drive. Rear axle I don't foresee an issue with - just the 4 U-bolts, brake line, e-brake cables, and driveshaft U-joint straps. Since I only lifted it a couple months ago my U-bolts should be easy to loosen again...

It's the front axle I'm afraid of, the bolts on that sucker are 13 years old, very rusty, and quite stuck. I'm ordering a full set of new bolts for it tomorrow and planning on just cutting every single one, really.

I'm hoping my existing front axle and its :gee:-quality LCA bracket I patched up will last long enough for me to get the new axles, wirewheel all the rust off, weld a new set of LCA brackets on, and paint them up so they don't get eaten alive by salt. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm OCD about doing the job right I'd probably have them under it in a day or so :D

Anyways, if I do manage to pull it off, I'll drive on down, never been to rausch...

</derail>

Why the hell not? I went out of my way to go on this one.
Yeah, but I just came back from vacation (went to Rausch); somehow I can't seem to make it there in under 5 hours if I tow. My days off are Thu/Fri and getting a weekend off when you're a Manager in a Casino is not an easy proposition. Basically I have no life - 3 different shifts in 2 months is not living altho it's good to still have a job. All Summer, and only 2 trips to Rausch. SUX!!
Anyway my XJ needs better steering - bad.

might be there for the rockrace on 7th and ruining my new jeep the 8th
