Hi,I have a 99 xj and im having some issues with my right front speaker. Last week i went mountain biking and the speaker started muting and rattleling at high volumes. The day after the speaker was ok but as soon as I crank the volume pass 25 the speaker go dead. Now since yesterday, the speaker is not working at all. My head unit is a kenwood mp3 player and all 4 speakers are infinitys bought at future shop and install by them. I really dont know what would be the cause of that; maybe a bad ground or the famous wire in the door that could be cut or just a blown speaker. If anyone knows what i should check leaz et me know !!!!!!! Thx guys

Check the ground, I have a 99 and i had my Alpine head unit put in and the stereo place told me that me right front speaker was out so when I got home I went to Best Buy bought some 70$ 6.5" and put them in. When i got to the right side i just put a tek screw in the door panel with a wire connector and the speaker worked just Fine.

ive had a similar problem before. try taking the cover off the speaker and holding the cone back to it cant move outwards and see if it will play past 25. mine did this and basically it had blown the voice coil out but at low volumes it was still getting a connection until there was too much bass played thru the speaker and it would knock the voice coil out and cut out.

Thx guys but i figured out the problem last week end... It was the same prob others as encountered as the positive wire of the speaker got streched too much and just broke. This is probably (no doubt about it) because the wire was too short and after 5 years of door opening it just broke. Ive search in here before takin apart anything and found that everybody who had a similar problem well it was on the driver side. so i guess one day soon ill have to do the same thing on that side... Thx guys !!!!!
