rental jeeps

Lucky they didn't roll actually.
But if I ever go to Moab and I don't take my jeep across...I'm definitely going to try to rent a rubi. It would have to be cheaper to get there and rent than tow across. Of course the pride of wheeling one of my jeeps out there would be lost but the fun wouldn't.

yeah, to tell ya the truth, i'm takin my waggy out there, just to say i did, not to mention it'd prolly be cheaper in the long run. i also wanna see everything on the way out there, so i'm gonna drive, and i don't wanna drive a little 4banger like my subaru or anything. it's worth the 2 grand or so i'm gonna blow on gas to have my pride and joy out in the desert.:d

Totally know where you're coming from with that.
I'd do the same thing if I had a job with a predictable schedule but I don't. So it comes down to me planning it out and just eating the cost of the rental. I'd love to tow the 67 with my stroked XJ across the country, but I don't think that'll happen. Better invest in a turbo diesel something first!

well when i win the lotto and hit big, i have already planned on taking a trip out there with my rig so i would be more than happy to foot the bill to take us all out there, couple dually's with turbos and a couple of 3 rig trailers... oh yeh baby!!

Moab is Da Bomb..been there once in '96, during my Samurai days...

It was only 12 hrs from LA. Ever since I left LA ('96) it's been a 3 day drive...I'm thinking rent a motorhome...and trailer the XJ...that way the kids can do what ever they want for 3 days, and I won't have to kill anyone after 3 days of driving in an XJ...:laugh3:
wow!! that samarai was in offroad adventures! those pics made me want a sammy for a loooong time!(as in i still do)... very cool to almost know some of the people who indirectly got me into 4x4's in the first place.
there is a thread on here where a guy in australia turned the old xxxpedition xj into an offroad camp trailer.

I drove my xj to Moab in 2008, rolling on 33's. Took a few friends with me to help with gas. If 3 to 4 people go then it's lots cheaper. We ran Hells Revenge, Steel Bender and Cliff hanger, all rated at 6 (trails rated 1-10) and didn't break anything. The old xj took us there and brought us home. We all 4 took about $1000 each.... BTW gas was about $3.35 or more, we had plenty of money.

My old Moab hat is looking pretty bad, it's about time to go get a new one

I didn't get very good gas milage, it wouldn't cost much more to trailer or flat tow.
