Jeep looks great! I'm really digging the OD and black aswell. I don't think the tires look too narrow ethier, it just takes some getting used to because everyone is used to looking at 12.5s

I like the narrow tires more. It makes it look more like a long adventure rig as opposed to a short trail trailer rig.

Your Jeep came out great, very nice setup!
I'm running narrow tires also and have zero issues with them, but plenty of benefits.
Congrats on a great rig.

Just a questions for ya...You said about putting in a new 'wing' window. Did yours come stock with that or can you pop out the fixed little window and change it to the wing one? I see the older XJ's with wing windows all the time just didnt know if you could swap it out easily or not. Thanks. BTW rig is SICK!!!!

Yeah the fixed wing can be replaced with a moveable vent. See the thread in my sig.

Thats an awsome looking XJ! I love the way the paint turned out.

I wanted to go OD on mine, but decided it was too dark (hot) for the desert. I went with Rustoleum "camo army green" rattle cans. I think it turned out pretty good. (those spots on the hood are fscking eucalyptus sap). I started painting the roofrack then decided to go wheeling before I finished.

I prepped pretty thoroughly. Spent about two weeks sanding every day after work. Man chrome bumpers are PITA to sand. I sanded all the plastic and sprayed it and the chrome with adhesion promoter. obviously I didn't get the cracks in the front bumper plastic bits very well, oh well the nice thing about a matte rattlecan spray is I can fix anything like that and not have to worry about feathering or anything. Did I mention that XJs suck to sand? So many edges and tight little areas... Sorry about the silver wheels. I'm planning to get steelies and paint them to match the jeep.

Just curious, did you give any thought to desert camo? I think that would have fit your environment, and pretty cool with all the stuff going on in the middle east.

Not too many deserts locally to Philadelphia... so the darker shade works out here. :wave:

It occurred to me, but green is the best color. also I'm moving to vermont soon I hope.

I setup the RTT this am to install another LED light i picked up and a bud took a few more pics with his camera.

Also started working on my rear deployed shade/rain awning made from Milspec OD canvas, i'll post pics of this once it's further along.

Tonight is supposed to be nice and cool, felt like running in the house and grabbing a few pillows and sleeping bags. Till i remembered it's my anniversary.

yea a great looking xj what did you use for your quarter panel guards 3/16 or larger and what did you use to attach them i was considering a piece of diamond plate for mine and painting it black

I used 1/8 or 3/16" aluminum plate, forget exactly. Ratchet straps and a tree to get the curverture.

Bought the material on ebay.

Took all the old material off the headliner, sunvisors and sound bar. Cleaned all the old foam off and installed the new material. Simple..
