I'm planning to paint my XJ this summer. I'm wondering if you had to do any special prep to the nose (that isn't metal)?

Just scuffed the hatch and header panel like i did the rest of the rig. You want to completely sand off any clearcoat if it's peeling.

Brother!! Have you seen Mom? :wave1:

Your rig looks good, thought i was looking in a mirror.

That TJ is 100% Pure Awesome. I don't know what he wants / wanted, but I'm sure that since I've got to ask... too much.
*sigh* Someday...

Overland -
No flattery here. I think you have probably the sickest XJ on Naxja. It's for sure amongst the ones I look to for inspiration when I think of what I really want to build.

Hahah well, to each their own taste. I spent about 6 months living in / taking road trips around the Southwest with my XJ... the expedition-built style & livability of your rig is awesome. Wish I'd had something more like it...

cool rigs, reminds me of some bizzare way of sleeping above the wild animals or something, in bear or mountain lion country.

Hey Overland, have you ever thought of a military star on the doors? I am thinking of this when my od paint job is done, maybe on the hood also. What do you think?

If you like the idea then by all means go for it. I'v seen it done, but not my style personally.

Boy that would be one way to cheapin it up.....His rig looks very top drawer w/o that....if he needed to gov. it up maybe a 'gasoline only' stencil by the gas cap and a gross weight by the front door.....Just don't make it "Its Swell if it's from Mattel"

:tears:

John, please , keep it understated.

Good points guys, wasn't suggesting it wasn't perfect, just curious how it would look, you all think it's been done too much? I haven't seen too many, well doing another door today, I'll keep you posted when its done. Great work John.

thought you might find this interesting john looks homeade

Looked at the photo album....WoW!!!! Excellent use of your art abilities, what a tasteful, well done rig w/ everything thought out...and no need for a trailer...I am so impressed. You just raised the bar by at least 4 ft.!!!! Why are you selling it? Hope its to use your exceptional skills to build a better one. with a little luck it will go to someone who appreciates it and not to someone who cuts it up into a trailer. So Dude and Dudette....My compliments from a guy w/ an MFA in Printmaking and Drawing......WOW! I only wish I could buy it......sigh....

Re: XJ trailer obsession

Dude!

Let the trailer thing die already...

OK, back on topic.

Picked up a trailer from a bud last weekend to use for NAC-Fest in 2 weeks. This weekend i'll mount the rooftent to the trailer.

Looking fwd to seeing how well the tent/trailer thing works out for me. I'll post pics of it setup in camp after the event.
