I put my son’s rebuilt XJ motor back together and had a severe fuel leak from the mystery component in the middle of the fuel rail directly onto the hot exhaust manifold and catalysts
Alldata shows a fuel damper on the diagrams, but no part number or description of the component
Pulled that thing off and it showed "04591520AA DAMPER 3190 GJ”, made of pure billet unobtanium
I tried to replace the o-ring, but no joy. In hindsight, this was likely because the original had been distorted so I spec’d the size incorrectly,
Same failure scenarion, BUT this time I knew to pressurize the rail without cranking, so cold cats and manifold
More web searching and I stumbled across one for a Mazda rotary, then searched Summit for fuel dampers and found a dead match, down to the weird green colored ring under the seal:
Standard Motor Products FPD83, got one from O’Reilly for ~$60
I’s a DBO match visually, will report back if the thing holds pressure
Worst case, I now own a $60 o-ring(.116 thicknes ICYGAS)
