Project Olive Drab

Gotta say man I think t he quarter panel armor would look better OD ;)

I like it, but I'd be tempted to put that yellow and black stripped line terminating into an arrow with the words "RESCUE" pointing at the driver's door handle. Put my name like "Major Payne" just above the driver's side window. An maybe a big fat white star on the hood.

Admittedly I may be getting the army and air force mixed up here...

John, how about rims like this? One of my many little projects. Also will you have your XJ at RC or just the campground? I would like to see your roof top tent for another project I'm thinking about. PS, your XJ looks awsome. John

Thanks John, they look good.

The XJ will be at the CG, you'll be swinging by sat after wheelin right? Jump inside the RTT and see what ya think. I'll buy ya a cold one..

Wow, the heep looks good. Prepping mine for paint since I can't stand the faded/peeling clear on it. Wife doesn't want OD, but I'm thinking OD would look good. I need to show this to her. It's silver right now. What's with the skinny tires?

Thanks Mark. The tires are just a preference, i'm tired of throwing mud all over the side of my rig and having it on me within an hour in camp. Removing my rockrails allowed more mud to hit the body..

Heres a pic from today, doing some more work on it. LED lighting, more camo interior work etc.

You promised me green wheels!

What do you think, just cause it's your rig, you get to decide how it'll look?

:twak:

Robert

Don't tell me I've been overruled?!?

Looks great!

Are you going to put rock rails back on it?

No, just sold them. My rig hasnt seen rocks in quite some time and i'm looking to lower weight. I'll eventually bend up something to cover the rockers.

Robert... keeping you in suspense.

Got time for a quick update before work.

Installed the Ring and pinion in my new housing awhile ago, axle is now under XJ. This am i mounted the tires. Installed Bilstein 5150's as well. Rides great..

I'll take a few more pics tomorrow if it's not raining.

Bent tie rod?

Yesterday i did some more front end work, adjust trackbar a bit and recheck alignment and changed the toe-in to 0* since i run a NP242 transfercase.

Greased the rig, and installed a new drivers wing window... after having to break it to gain access to my locked Jeep with keys in the column.

Today i decided to install the interior winch controller i bought 2 years ago...

I originally planned to install it in place of the factory cig lighter. While tearing into the dash i changed my mind and started putting it next to the radio and HVAC controls. Found that i needed to cut into the plastic dash housing behind the cover panel... thats when i realized i had cut a 2"x3" hole out of my AC ducting...

After some discussion with James (stumpXJ) here i found a solution that should allow me to continue my install and retain most of my airflow through the vents. Thanks James... saved my bacon on this one.

It's installed loosely, i need to finish by running the wiring through firewall and to my winch. I'm glad i decided to put it here. Now i have to find a new home for my external CB speaker which sat in this location.
